I actually agree. I think the site could be tweaked so its more visually accessable for return viewings.

The site is really great right now for re-directed traffic (such as through digg, reddit and other sites) but it’s not very good if it’s your first point of contact.

Hrm, what do you find confusing or inaccessible about the current design? This is something to talk to about with Kit by the way.

I think the most confusing aspects of the site are how uniform it is. Everything is in the drop down menus, and all the same color with the same sized boxes. It takes a few visits before you learn where everything is.

The simple style is great if one has discovered a link to a specific story, you go to that story, and no distractions. That part works. But there is no really easy to navigate main page. Places like CNN.com or Something Awful have really nice main pages where the newest story is emphasized the most until a newer story takes the stage.

PBH could use something like that where there were more of the site map was already apparent on the home page. I just think that there is something to be said for having a primary page that is designed to go to anything else from the links that are apparent, rather than having to hunt through tabs to find what you want.

I will talk with Kit about it as well. I’ve got a picture in my head of what I think a good main page would be, I can sit with Kit and we can go over things, and see what he thinks.

I do think a change on the main page could help with viewer ship and a stronger community.
