Do you ever feel…

Like you were born into an Ice Age of reason, where you are forced to agonizingly watch humanity go through a formative stage characterized by debasing belief systems, incomprehensible violence, and unscrupulous avarice and corruption?

We’re just all raised in a culture that subtly promotes the notion that the concept of absolute certainty exists. Then these fuckers decide that they are the arbiters of absolute certainty.

    C’est la vie.

    Nice.

Sometimes I think about how we as a society are enduring “growing pains.” If the human species as a whole could be related to the life cycle of a single human being, Id say we are somewhere around our late teens.

And its because of organized religion and its absolutist answers to the ultimate question (why are we here) that humans have been driven toward a cognitive process reliant on absolute certainty. And then the enlightenment came along in response to that, replacing religious reasoning with positivist scientism. Its not very different.

On the whole, we havent transcended since we first learned language. We just have fancier technologies and clothes now.
