It’s been reported in Al-Jazeera, MSNBC, and CNN. But they’ve all got it wrong.
Turkey is indeed moving troops into Iraq. A close friend of mine is deployed in Baghdad. It’s 3pm right now on the east coast and around midnight in Baghdad. He recently communicated:
***** did you hear that Turkey invaded the north?
***** as if we needed anymore trouble
AlvinBlah why did they invade?
***** some Kurds were pullin some shit up there and crossing back into Iraq for sanctuary. So Turkey is coming after them with a few thousand troops
***** I bet we’ll tell them to get the fuck out unless they want to help provide security in the north or something
***** which may be a bad idea because they will probably be biased as shit
***** it just happened a few hours ago, plus there isn’t too much US presence in the North
AlvinBlah we’re only as far as mosul right?
***** Yeah I think so, or just North of Mosul, I know Britain has Basrah, we of course, and I mean the Marine Corps, have all of al Anbar and the Army is all over Baghdad
AlvinBlah is it in the news yet?
***** 2:54 PM I think there was a little bit, but we get everything at work
***** 54:36 all my info
That’s the conversation. You can believe or disbelieve either way. I’m not going to release the real transcript, and I’m not going to provide more details about my friend. However he is in a position to learn information in Iraq much quicker than us by the fortunes of us being online at the same time daily. I will say nothing further about the origins of the report, or the origins of potential future reports.
Now, why is this important?
It’s cool that we’ve got the drop on major news outlets on a global issue that neither Turkey nor the USA has confirmed. But Iraq has stated it would see incursions as an act of war, and the USA for better or worse is the primary force of Iraqi security at this time. While conversations about terrorists and their ability to enter Iraq to perpetuate violence are fiercely debated. This will become a documented event of terrorism that has spawned out of Iraq and attacked another nation. And that nation (Turkey) strikes back. All under the eyes of the Americans.
This also proves how unprotected, and unwatched much of Iraq’s border is, and what that imparts upon the broader global stage. But Turkey is also a nation applying for membership in the EU, and it effectively invades a nation that is under American control. How will this event roll out with diplomatic relations?
This is an event that will explode into dramatically complicated scenarios, and could carry major long term sway. I hope that the President is up to a complicated problem this time, and that for once, and issue and how serious it is comes to light without being downplayed, or simplified.
