What is culture? Who are we as Americans? What does it mean to be an American, and what is the responsibility of elected officials to the people? These are all good questions.

Piracy on the High Webs or An Easy Act of Civil Disobedience

Written on November 28th, 2007 | Trackback URI |

The debate about file-sharing must face an ideological shift in logic or forever to remain as the selfish act of a defiant middle class that refuses to pay. The reasons and rationale for piracy must not be defined by the industries that attempt to shut it down, nor must the reasons reflect simple personal gain.

Right now the battlegrounds of file-sharing are about who controls the distribution of American Culture. We as fellow pirates must recognize that there is no more satisfaction in having an external agency dictate what aspects of our artistic and entertainment identity we receive.

For Clarification:

Anyone out there that defends the Windows Vista GUI is just a Mac fanboy that hasn’t come out of the closet yet.

Come on…How many years have Windows users jumped on the “it’s only pretty. Not functional.” bandwagon in beating Apple into the ground.

Look at you now with your fading away windows, and 1gb of ram needed to drive the pictures….Who’s the pretty but unfunctional now?

well I’m just sayin

Dear America,

Written on October 11th, 2007 | Trackback URI |

Dear America,

I think it’s time we sat down and had a discussion. We’ve been in a relationship for many years now, and I think we need to discuss where we are headed as a couple. For quite a while I have worked hard on keeping up this relationship, and I don’t see you giving much back.

Relationships are two way streets built on trust. For the past seven years, I don’t know how you can prove that you’ve trusted me. I have been here for you, and I have done what I could to council you on your problems, but you’ve ignored me, changed the subject, and even accused me of being the problem.

Is there anybody out there?

Written on October 9th, 2007 | Trackback URI |

SO, I sit at home, or in class and I post and write to my hearts content, but I know nothing about the audience. Tell us a little about yourself maybe. Who do these posts go out to? Who actually looks through these links? Are we shouting loud into a void, or is there a warm receiving audience on the other side?

I’m curious to know the thoughts and views of those out there, because it really will impact what I write and post about. There is nothing worse than someone with an audience that cannot connect with them.

So please, in my little moment of self doubt…let me know if you’re out there internet….

It’s me Margret.

But truly. Who reads our writings, and what would you like to see.

When They Come For You

Written on October 5th, 2007 | Trackback URI |

When they came for the Liberals
I watched it on CNN;
I wasn’t that liberal.

When they locked up the Muslims,
I did not care;
Religion never interested me.

When they came for the Mexicans,
I did not speak out;
I was born in America.

When they came for the Pundits,
I remained silent;
I wasn’t ever that angry.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

Bad For Goose and Gander

Written on October 3rd, 2007 | Trackback URI |

Democrats once again go on a free speech witch hunt against all enemies….

Why the hell can’t they stop caring about the dissenters and start doing what we fucking elected them for. I’m not one that likes Rush, not even close, he’s inflammatory, exaggerates the truth, outright lies, borderline racist, and overall blowhard drug addict.

However, I will stand for all that exercise their right to free speech, no matter what they say. I think the KKK has as much right to protest for their beliefs as do Gay pride and anti-war parades. Congress has gotten it into their heads that it is acceptable and just for them to come down on anyone that speaks against the status quo regardless of political alignment. This culture of censorship and oppression is nothing more than Unamerican, and the liberal activist groups that lobby for a crackdown on Mr. Limbaugh are using the fascist intimidation tactics that are so familiarly used by Karl Rove and the like.

Open letter to Senate

Written on September 20th, 2007 | Trackback URI |

To all Senators that voted for censure,

I stand and accuse you of treason against the ideals and Constitutional foundations of our nation. Today, you voted to, as Sen. John Cornyn so eloquently put it, “Let’s take sides. General Petraeus or MoveOn.org”.

I ask you to take sides again, do you or do you not believe in the Constitution? Because our first amendment protects the freedom of speech, and our right to speak dissent without fear of reprimand. Senators, what have you done today to protect that shining ideal?

Nothing. Not a damn thing. Senate now thinks it’s their place and business to censure acts of political free speech and dissent simply because they disagree with the view. Today every senator that voted for this censure violated their oath to uphold the values of our constitution.

Fred Thompson’s campaign carries a culture of “douchebag”

Written on September 18th, 2007 | Trackback URI |

Fred Thompson is now officially in the race, and is using his campaign to lash out at the accuracy snobs of Wikipedia.

douchebag of the month

 ”I’m pretty sure the people debating ‘Fred’ versus ‘Freddie’ are the same people who debate whether or not Britney Spears looked too fat at the MTV music awards,” said Karen Hanretty, who is working for the Thompson campaign. “Seriously, how many hours do these editors spend on the site?”

I am a fan of Wikipedia, the information is sound and provides a solid overview of a topic. That would not be possible without the countless hours of volunteer work put into such a massive web service. True, many people that update and keep Wikipedia useful devote a LOT of time to the service, but the result is accurate and reliable information.

2008 Pre-post Election Roundup

Written on September 11th, 2007 | Trackback URI |

Here’s how I see it going down:

The republican’s are having a rough time of it at the moment. Scandal after scandal has hit the party pretty hard, President Bush is not a popular man by any estimation, and the candidates are in a crucial identity crisis. Are they neo-conservatives? are they evangelical moralists? or are they traditional republicans? No one seems to know, but Americans that vote Republican are getting tired of it. And rightly so.

I expect the candidate nomination to come down to one of two people. Either Mitt Romney or Fred Thompson. It’s really an either or with those two that hinges on a few key aspects.

1. Will Republicans accept a Mormon nomination?
2. Will Thompson be able to prove he has sound policy to back the rhetoric?
3. Will either of these two shoot themselves in the foot somehow?

The Real Rudy

Written on September 7th, 2007 | Trackback URI |

I’m not usually a fan of Robert Greenwald. I think he’s hit an miss. Outfoxed: Rhupert Murdoch’s Private War on Journalism was weak in my opinion, but Wal-Mart:The High Cost of Low Price was really good. Sometimes his arguments are balanced and well thought out, other times…not so much.

Mr. Greenwald is currently taking on a politician that is popular because voters are uneducated on the man’s actions. Mr. Greenwald as a creator media is taking his role responsibly to depict factual evidence of a significant figure acting poorly. But most importantly Rudy Giuliani is scum. He is a low life politician that backtracks on issues, associates with criminals, his children won’t speak to him, and ran New York City with an iron fist. This man will not serve the country well in ANY national capacity. And with this in mind, I’ve got no qualms about promoting Greenwald’s movie and website.
