and, as I am in the backwards state of Indiana, the change occurred in 1967.
    Good golly!

I thought it was still illegal for fat feminists to get married

Interracial marriage was once illegal, yes. But at least they were using the word “marriage” correctly in that context, meaning a man and a woman.

It’s not merely that “marriage” is illegal between same-sex couples. The point is that it simply can’t happen because the word means something else. “Gay marriage” is a contradiction.

So, simply come up with another word, and make that other word legal. Then everyone will be happy.

Look up Jim Crow laws. Separate but equal is still discrimination. And the word…means whatever we legislate it to mean.(WE MADE IT UP!) The law serves us, not the other way around.

did you know that marriage was invented many, many, many, many centuries ago as a way to protect people? “okay, so your son will marry my daughter and he’ll move in with us and help protect the family from anything and anybody that might hurt us.”

how, then, is gay marriage a contradiction? “your son will marry my son and he’ll move in with us and help protect the family” is more or less exactly the same thing.

lolol your definition of marriage is strictly dependent on the bible, which doesn’t define our laws or legal code in any way. do we stone adulterers? no. so if you want to come up with another word, you have to make that word applicable to any two parties wanting to marry to make it equal. otherwise it’s “separate but equal” and i think we know how that clause turns out.

      You are a complete moron!

Why get married at all? Couples may be impacted by the marriage penalty in the federal tax code . DON’T GET MARRIED it’s not worth it.

  • Boyd

Proponents of gay marraige should only be taken seriously if they give polygamy and incest the same amount of face time. You are arguing that consenting adults who are love should marry, and if that is the case, what is stopping the legalization of polygamy between consenting adults. Or of a brother and sister.

It’s because she is black and he is white.

  • JustSaying

Corporate marriages or mergers are legal. But gay marriage is not. Somehow, artificial entities have more rights than do human beings. Amazing!

It’s time for the USA to join in on the 21st Century and legalize what is already recognized in so many parts of the world.
