“in lue of” (spelled lieu) means “instead of, in place of”, you probably meant “due to” or “because of”… better still “in retaliation for”….

The prize has to go to Good Morning America(iirc) which referred to her testimony as “The most compelling testimony on the Hill since Fawn Hall” !! (Ollie North’s secretary.). My feeling is, focusing on her hot-or-notness is just another case of the Shiny Object Theory; it steals column inches and TV seconds from the content of her testimony.
