Quick Update

Here is what´s new.

I have a vivero (read:reforestation) project in its planning stages.  This shall be a working triumvarate between the primary school, the mayor´s office, and the military.  All have pledged their support thus far and the initial figures for the tree count is around a thousand.  I expect the number to dwindle as we nail down some more of the specifics, but no matter what this should be a large project!  Our main goals are shade (including the river which has the problem of drying up because it evaporates) and direct consumption like fruit, medicial, and firewood.

Vermiculture…  Thanks to PCV Greg Fraser I have been able to bring worms into my site and they are not dead as of this writing.

School….  Classes are back in session and I am observing them to get an idea of what I´m diving into.  Thats all for now but I will try to think of more cool stuff to write later.

Oh yeah, the bricks for my room just got dropped off by the cattle cart today so I will be in there sometime before my service is over in two years.  But if I´m in there soon I will get those  world wise school letters back out!

Lucian,
WOW! Things are really happening now. I hope to see some pictures of your actual work, worms included, of course. I sure do hope that those bricks go down soon so you can have a floor and can finally get settled in at last. Keep up the wonderful work for you are truly on the road to making a difference.
I love you and be sure to be safe!!!

So good talking to you yesterday. I felt as if I was walking with you, as you walked and we talked down the way from the school, past the check point, to your house. The photos that you sent of the road ways were vivid to me as we walked and talked together along the way. I could smell the air and feel the heat, the sounds were so clear to me.The excitement in your words rang out with a wonderful tone of tranqulity and simple being. The way, the middle path…being. Thank you for such a wonderful gift son. Take heart, you are in a place in time.. the moment of being..Thanks for walking the way with me that day. Today. Pops

Dean Lucian,
I’m spending the weekend with your other Grandmothe, Jillian and your parents. The worm deal sounds like fun. How big has your family of worms grown. I’m doing OK and the weather if quite cold here now. We really have wintertime. I sure miss the sunshine in Florida this time of year. But, it’s so good to be home with all the families. I’m looking forward to seeing you when you get home. Take care and I love you.
