215618411 8caf12f384 m Going away party and MiamiAugust 5th was my going away party and it was a huge success. People came in from all over to bid their farewells and the atmosphere stayed upbeat! Good food was enjoyed by all and the more competitive types broke into some bocce and croquet (read:bloodsport).

August 6th I flew down to Miami to visit my brother and have one more go at the nightlife. Continuing on with my modus operandi of being underdressed and ill prepared I had to rewear a polo shirt and borrow shoes from my brother’s buddy. Once again the Miami week was well worth the traveling. I don’t think I will ever feel like I have spent enough time with my older brother, and once Peace Corps is through I will fix that. Miami in itself has a great deal to offer in addition to family; the culture, cuisine, and nightlife are hard to pass up. Suffice to say between brazillian resturants, bubba burgers, and aguardiente my intestinal tracks got all the practice they’ll need for Nicaragua. I will need to spend the remaining time home running and eating yogurt (live culturezzzz). Have a great day everyone and word to your mothers.

Hey Lucian,

I wanted to do this when I first saw this spot. When your dad was here today, I asked if it would be okay to say hey to Eric here. I got the go ahead.

Anyway, I want to say that I think it’s great that you and Eric have gotten the chance to really bond with each other. I think it’s great that Jillian has spent some time with Eric as well.

So with that say…

Hey Eric, how are ya? I’m going to use Lucian to get to you. It’s been a very long time since we emailed. I’m sorry to hear that you and I now share the same kind of hearing loss. I imagine it is very difficult for you to adjust to this loss as an adult. I was a child when I lost mine. I’m still very clumsy [is that spelled right]. I have to see someone’s face as they speak to me, or I miss some of what they’re saying.

We think of you often, granted we don’t do anything about it, but do know that we do think of you.

Love you!
