I’m here

Written by luciano on August 30th, 2006 | Trackback URI |

I have just finished my first day here in Nicaragua and it has certainly been a blast.  In lieu of sleep, most of us opted to stay awake for our 1 AM checkout and 6 AM flight out.  A few delays aside we arrived in Nicaragua at around 11ish I speculate. We are now at a really nice hotel/resort going through the official business of vaccinations for Rabies and receiving training materials.  For anyone wondering I have only been using conventional toilets thus far and I will surely let you know when I use an outhouse or poo in a hole or anything of the sort.  Thank you all for the kind words and I will fill in the gaps later when I have more time.  Until then,

Lucian

    Lucian,
Here I am worrying at work about you and you’re at a resort of some sort. Enjoy it while it lasts. I look forward to your updates and hearing more about your adventure. We’re all well. I’ll write you another letter tomorrow to give you some local news. Take care and all my love,

Hey ask you dad about the out house at granny kates.
Oh so happy to hear you’re there, safe and with a sense of humor. Will the resort check you bag for toilet paper at check out?

Hmm, some kind of resort, eh? Not exactly what Michael experienced in Benin, I believe. Anyway, your living conditions will probably be more comparable once you’re both in the PC outback. Keep up the good spirit and stay healthy.

Oh, gosh, you answered the most pressing question the students had about outhouses!!! You ARE so good to us Lucian!!! Letters are being written this coming week — of course, you just know how all of my darlings feel about writing! They are interested, though, in writing to you because it is different and daring — and your exploits afar intrigue them. Glad you have some R&R before the onslaught of reality hits! Peace and well wishes, Leigh-Ann

I look forward to hearing of your experiences. As I think of what to write, I am taken back to the times in Geometry. Seems like just yesterday. Wishing you the best, hope your host family can cook!

    Best of luck,

    Jeff

Lucian!! Hope you are settling in well. The talk of toilets reminds me of the pic of you reading the paper on the toilet…about 20 years ago :)

Looking forward to an update. Love you and proud of you!

    Lucian,

As a fellow traveller, it’s always a relief to know that you arrived where you needed to in due time and in good health. Your photos are an impressive testimony to the good time that I’m sure you are already having in Nicaragua. I know that you will have your hands full with training over the next few weeks (not to mention that whole cultural adjustment thing!), so feel no pressure to write back right away. My prayers and best wishes are with you my friend, especially during the times YOU are squatting over a hole and I’M drinking tea whilst sitting on a porcelain throne!

    Greetings and Salutations dear Lu!
So happy to know you are in the midst of a nice bunch of sisters and having a good time. Did you make cookies for them yet?
We all miss you and talk about you . Mom says to give you a big, tight hug.
Do take care and enjoy your adventure. You must be very proud of yourself. I will write again soon.
Your big brother sends his love.
