I´m with my host family now, and I´m sorry to say that I will be very, very busy for the next 10 weeks. Apparently this will be the most busy I will ever be during my Peace Corps service. Allow me to go through a description of my day:
Spanish from 8-12
Lunch 12-1
Spanish 1-3ish
That´s a ton of spanish, so suffice to say my head is a´swimmin with it when I go to bed. But here´s the best part of my day, our malaria medicine has a sweet side affect called “enhanced dreams”. This means when I escape from the day I step into the madhouse of my subconscious. I wake up to some seriously weird dream residue in the morning.
Other than being super busy and stressful, it is really cool living with a Nicaraguan family. They really remind me of my own family and they are very good to me. Don´t expect picutres soon because I don´t know when it will be kosher to pull out my camera. Much love to you all…

Hey Sweetie,
So, it looks like you’re not getting enough Spanish time. So, what is on the list from 3ish to bed time? oh, REMEMBER TO WRITE YOU DREAMS IN THE TRAVEL LOG!
Your dad called us yesterday to fill us in on your where ’bouts. He had such relief and a burst of happiness in his voice that you were safe… and that you suprised them with a phone call. Thanks, you made their day.
I took Maggie to her last testing for the new hearing aides on tues. [very good, Jamie increased them a bit more without telling Maggie ] and on the way she spoke of how your mom and dad want her to come spend time with them… and she added …lets see how to describe it…. in a matter of fact what, that “Lucian told me I could use his room while he was gone” She was so cute. Your dad is coming in after work today to take her to dinner, she called mom so excited.
I am to tell you that, Mom, Dad and Maggie send their love and are also pleased that you are happy with were you are and that you are safe.
k kid, it’s quitin’ time and I’m ready to show my tail lights.
We Love ya bunches! So this would be 3 times to the moon and back
ahh man, it was to be “matter of fact way” See what I get for answering the phone and typing to you. My brain can only handle one task at a time.
Doesn’t really matter as long as ya know we’re thinking about you, and that we love you very much.
so there!
Yes..a phone call and a blog note.. it does not get much better. The big question is, are you dreaming in Spanish yet? So, as Sherri asked, what is your R&R time all about, Is it raining and is the power dry? oh, your watch is in thmail…i told you that already..oh well, thanks dor keeping us informed and remember the saying..”one moment at a time”.So happy your adventure is a journey to be in, take care, keep it in the middle of the road. Con amour, tu Padra…Ciao
hey bro… i am so interested to hear about your host family and their customs and food and all that… are there children? what do you do after school? how many peace corps workers are where you are now? is it really hot, are you wearing sun protection? wow it feals like you have been gone for a lot longer than you have. thinking about you everyday… you and dad are going to be extra annoying at the dinner table now that you are going to be fluent in espanol… you two will never speak english… maybe some can rub off on me… love ya lots!!!
Hey Lucian,
It’s been a while. I hope you are having a fabulous time and learning as much as you can. I will be thinkin about you on your new expedition. Take care….
TYLER

Hey Bro,
What can i say, im really happy for you yet at the same time im incredibly sad because i miss you tremendously. I spoke with your parents the other night and it was great to hear their voice. I am a horrible writer so bear with me here ok. I got your voicemail the other day…i shall save it until your return, that way everytime teh lucian levels in my blood are low, i can replenish. Make sure you learn pimp spanish so u can teach me. Nothing new going on here, all is well, parents send their regards. I saw sid the other night which was cool because i think i have more contact with you BEING OUT OF THE COUNTRY than with him. He is just super busy with his new GF haha. As for me i am going to a Yankees game tomorrow with this lovely girl from New York. She is a really cool chick, down to earth, maybe youll meet her someday….then again you know me. It should be a fun weekend bc i got a nice hotel room for us n stuff so that we can hit up a few bars in baltimore (yankees are playing the oriols). Anyways….thats on my love life…since your always first to know….! let me tell you tho…i was weird the other day i was driving…as usual since athts all u do in NOVA, and on old habbit of me calling my homie lucian during traffic times, i pulled out my cell phone and began to dial only to realize your nt here!!!! WHO WILL I TELL MY ADVENTUROUS stoires about my life too now????? i cant really leave them on your blog because that would be innapropriate (SP???) . HAHA remember the JUST TAKE THE SMART TAG LANE…..but i have 75cents in my hand…>JUST DO IT!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAH that was great. Jota should be moving up to arlington soon so that should be fun. As for movies….nothing crazy out….just got lost season 2 but u have seen that. Ummm still avnt seen beerfest…gotta get on that. CRANK (with the guy from transporter) was pretty good….just senseless action. As for other news….there arent really any only that our Beloved Crockodile Hunter was STABBED IN THE HEART BY A STINGRAY and sadly died seconds after. At least the good man died doing what he loved. Lucian REYNOLDS I LOVE andi miss you. I will periodically post on your blog and hopefully if the greater forces on this planet (my parents, god, etc) will allow it i shall come visit you . Farewell Brother
Hey Cuz,
Well, Is this your first week; it seems like it’s been longer. Hey, do they do anything in honor of Christmas? One of the guys here at the office is from Guatemala, he says they do a kind of christmas thing and it involves lots of chocolate.
Dad [I'm on his computer] zoomed by and yelled “tell Lucian Hi” Their removing the forms from the conrete walk that was poured yesterday, so he was rushing out to be in the middle of that.
oh, IT’S FRIDAY!!!!!!!! yepheee. Do you have classes on the weekend? Do you get to enjoy the weekend for what it is?
k, I’m using you right now to reach Jill. Jill please email me, the cyber address troll ate my address book.
Love to all!
Wow, how far behind am I???? Okay, so “Que tal? Como esta usted con su nueva familia?” — that’s about as much Espanol as I can remember to say grammatically (sort of)…sounds like you are on another planet almost between the Spanish immersion and bizarro dreamworld — but somehow this suits you, Lucian! I know this family must be very impressed with their luck to have gotten you. Do you get your own room or do you share with another family member? What’s the local cuisine like? And how hard are the Spanish lessons?????? Can’t imagine how much fun and how strange it all must seem at the same time but can imagine how exciting it must be to experience all these new things. They don’t know it, but they got the best-est Peace Corps -er of all to come live with them!!!! Take care and thanks for keeping up with your blog and letting us all know how you are doing! Leigh-Ann
hi Lucian…I really enjoy reading your blog; it certainly sounds like you are adapting well to your new “home away”…Jilly came up to see me this weekend, we had a great time as always, she really misses you!! Take care, I hope your stomach is adjusting to all that bean eating:) xoxo, lisa
Lucian,
Great to hear you are adjusting well. I’m a little worried about all the beans but running in the morning sounds like a good idea and the beans will probably help you fight off the dogs. Sorry Nie-Nie, you know everyone is thinking the same thing, he is your father’s grandson
Life back here in VA is going well. Johnny, Monica, Sean, and little Gianna are moving to Williamsburg this weekend. It will be great to have everyone closer. We’ll get some pics to you soon.
Looking forward to more updates so keep blogging!!
Happy dreams,
-Todd
Luuuuuuu!!
Hope you are doing well and that your immersion in this culture is keeping you busy.
One month down and it seems like you just got there.
I am certain that passing time is different than our day today schedule that drives me crazy.
I am hopeful that you do NOT bring the horrors of meeting AYP and sol scores to the system of education in Nicaragua. WHat a game we play!
For fun!!
My son Wes , Cory Sodikoff , Craig Smith went to Roanoke last night to watch Brad Wright , the Baker brothers of TA perform in Extreme Wrestling a new form of pro wrestling. SAid it was a blast! Lots of action that was not fake.
Hang in there and keep larnin that espanich.
