A big thanks to everyone who threw down comments thus far!

You all really make my day to know that I´m still swimming around up in your heads somewhere! First some clerical things:

I found my alarm clock. My apologies if you have sent it already Mom and Pops.

The powder is indeed dry.

I mourn the passing of Steve Irwin, but I´m happy he went quick. Eric, that stingray apparently had yellow testicles.

Now, I had some questions about food so I´ll elaborate on that some. The food here varies greatly but it is unified on the fact that it will touch hot oil somewhere in its lifespan. There are an abundance of wonderful fruits and its insane on how many delicious combinations you can make with tortilla, beans, tomatoes, and crema. On average I eat beans 2.5 meals a day and I think its getting easier, I just have to think about people who have been eating them for a lifetime and that they´re down with that. I think that now that I have my alarm clock I may start waking up earlier to run a bit. Its tough to find a good place to run and not get chased by dogs. They are pretty mangy and hungry and tend to get interested in anything that moves faster than a walk.

    Lucian,
    We sent your watch, and were getting ready to mail the alarm. We’ll just hold on to it if you should need it. Also, please do be careful running with dogs around, oh dear!! Grandpa would have loved to hear about your bean diet. (You know what I mean). Anyway, I was just getting ready to write a letter and took a chance to find a new entry. Then, Wa-la, it was there. Thanks much for that. Hearing from you periodically does wonders and lifts my spirits. I’m not writing anymore because I have to save some things for my letter. I love you my sweets,

    Time is, we have a stand-by on hand. Hope you get your watch soon also. Rice and beans…does not get much better than that. Dogs..you be the ALPHA dog, They must be shown whose is the boss. Use some thing to place between you and the dog, eg. a racket, rolled up newspaper and stop. Gently approach them so as to back them down. So, you are entering into week three and I suspect the new world adjustment is starting to reach you with many questions. Well you guys are to be honored, what a sacrifice and effort to make the adjustment. I’m so amazed and proud of you. Keep the communications going and we will too. Can’t wait to see you and hang out. Always Pops.

    Hey Luciano, Grandma was so happy to hear from you today. She will be repeating your conversation over and over all week. We’re all so happy your with a nice family and eating such healthy foods. Are those beans organic? Grandma and I are going to see Dave tomorrow at Pelican Island and then heading to NY for a few days. We’re looking forward to visiting baby Gianna on Tuesday and bidding Johnny and his family a happy new life in Virginia. They will be leaving on the 15th. Kisses from Grandma. Love You,

    Hey man!

    I just got done reading the past few days of your blogs. Sounds awesome down there, as well as hot. I would still like to plan a trip down there next spring or something around there for a bit. I am super sorry I didn’t get to make it up before you left, but it’s been crazy busy down here with moving in to this house and all.

    I will make it down to see you at some point in your career. I also needed to tell you I am on path to become an Emergency Medical Technician and hope to certify as a hazmat team memeber by my birthday. SOOOO, when you come back, I will be able to save your life sucka… I will also send you a link to my “myspace” so you can see picks and try and keep up with me.

    I’ll keep reading your blogs and checking my emails. You are good man Lucian Reynolds and I know you will make an impact down there. Just don’t teach them the ways of the “fail” while you are there.

    Hope to talk to you soon.

    Later,
    BB

    The fruit sounds great, but… You didn’t say anything about sweets, i.e desserts, or what you’re drinking…. Guess beer would be safer then the H2o

    LU,

    I’m so glad to see you’re doing well! I’ve been thinking about you TONS! I know we didn’t get to spend a lot of time together, but now that I don’t have unlimited access to you, I wish we had! When you get back, we’re painting several towns red!! I am SO proud of what you’re doing. You are so special to me…my little brother…I’ve always got your back, and you’ve always got my love! Keep smiling and you’ll be FINE! That personality of yours is a treasure and I’m so happy you’re sharing it with the world!

    All my love,

    So the phrase “full of beans” will now hold a totally new meaning for me…heh-heh! Sorry, it’s too early in the morning (6:09 AM) to be this snarky… I think you should also get Cesar Milan, you know “The Dog Whisperer”, to come on down and visit — he’d show ya how to run with the pack and be safe! Of course, you ran with the pack in my room years ago so I think you already know all the techniques and tricks and those dogs better watch out ’cause Luciano’s in the house! I’m trying to get the little darlings in my classes to write letters — in and amongst the geography, algebra, science, and social studies — should prove to be some interesting stuff once it gets done. Here’s a sample: “Dear Lucian, Could you please beam me Nicarauga’s location from satellite to my cell phone as I cannot read a map? This would also help me to understand coordinates so I can pass my earth science test and give me practice following directions to where you are for my English SOL. In addition (no pun intended), I need the answer to the following problem ‘Marci had x number of red beans and 5 times as many black ones. If there were 2047 beans, how many of each kind were there?’ Thanks, Lucian, appreciate the help — Joey Student” — or something like that! Okay, off to conquer the world on my end, you do the same on yours! Hasta la vista! (throwing in my token Spanish for the day) LA

  • Pops

    As a wise person once said, ” one bean a day and a thousand smiles make a day to replay”. On another note, I also watch Cesar. So much for my Alpha male advise…

    Lucian,

    Great to hear you are adjusting well. I’m a little worried about all the beans but running in the morning sounds like a good idea and the beans will probably help you fight off the dogs. Sorry Nie-Nie, you know everyone is thinking the same thing, he is your father’s grandson :)

    Life back here in VA is going well. Johnny, Monica, Sean, and little Gianna are moving to Williamsburg this weekend. It will be great to have everyone closer. We’ll get some pics to you soon.

    Looking forward to more updates so keep blogging!!

    Happy dreams,
    -Todd

    One of the cool/crazy things about living in Bucharest when I was with State Dept. is they have the highest population of stray dogs in the world per capita. No joke. So people (aka Westerners) who would go out for a run really would go out for a run and end up chased by a pack of strays. This is not a good thing. So be careful.

    Luciano,

    1We sat within the farm-house old,
    2 Whose windows, looking o’er the bay,
    3Gave to the sea-breeze damp and cold,
    4 An easy entrance, night and day.

    5Not far away we saw the port,
    6 The strange, old-fashioned, silent town,
    7The lighthouse, the dismantled fort,
    8 The wooden houses, quaint and brown.

    9We sat and talked until the night,
    10 Descending, filled the little room;
    11Our faces faded from the sight,
    12 Our voices only broke the gloom.

    13We spake of many a vanished scene,
    14 Of what we once had thought and said,
    15Of what had been, and might have been,
    16 And who was changed, and who was dead;

    17And all that fills the hearts of friends,
    18 When first they feel, with secret pain,
    19Their lives thenceforth have separate ends,
    20 And never can be one again;

    21The first slight swerving of the heart,
    22 That words are powerless to express,
    23And leave it still unsaid in part,
    24 Or say it in too great excess.

    25The very tones in which we spake
    26 Had something strange, I could but mark;
    27The leaves of memory seemed to make
    28 A mournful rustling in the dark.

    29Oft died the words upon our lips,
    30 As suddenly, from out the fire
    31Built of the wreck of stranded ships,
    32 The flames would leap and then expire.

    33And, as their splendor flashed and failed,
    34 We thought of wrecks upon the main,
    35Of ships dismasted, that were hailed
    36 And sent no answer back again.

    37The windows, rattling in their frames,
    38 The ocean, roaring up the beach,
    39The gusty blast, the bickering flames,
    40 All mingled vaguely in our speech;

    41Until they made themselves a part
    42 Of fancies floating through the brain,
    43The long-lost ventures of the heart,
    44 That send no answers back again.

    45O flames that glowed! O hearts that yearned!
    46 They were indeed too much akin,
    47The drift-wood fire without that burned,
    48 The thoughts that burned and glowed within.

    Cuídate amigo,

    José

    Para los peros, usa tabasco y agua en un watergun (perdon pero no se la palabra.) Funciona bien y no les hace dano.

  • Amee – Cousin Todd’s other 1/2

    Hi Looo!

    I am diggin’ the happy dream & side effects – but just how long will you have such sweet dreams. All is well here in Richmond – the Mungo presence in VA has risen yet again – Johnny, Monica, Gianna and Sean are all in Williamsburg now. In fact, Sean started the 3rd grade at his new school today. We’re happy they are all here, but just eager for the rest of the “compound” to be finished so they don’t have to live so closely though. Gianna has opened her eyes to her world and she is beautiful – Uncle Johnny is totally in love with his newest grandaughter.

    You’ll be happy to know that Miss Jillian is doing great … I made her go to the mall with me on Saturday even as she was still nursing a fun night out from Friday… too funny. Sorry Jil’ – had to take the opportunity!

    Keep us updated – this blog is an absolutely fantastic idea!

    Big hug,
    Amee
