McDonalds Finds Another Way To Screw Over Its Employees

One new facet of McBudgeting, the benevolent corporation’s attempt at helping its employees manage their finances, is the Visa prepaid card that allegedly helps workers skip the “hassles” associated with traditional payment methods. The catch? When (forced to) use the card, you’re subject to all kinds of fees. No, a few dollars here and there doesn’t seem like much money, but when you’re working for minimum wage, those dollars can add up to hours of work you’re losing just to access your payment.

Shocking Satellite Photos Of Destruction In Syria

Raging for over two years now, the Syrian civil war has claimed over 100,000 lives and torn apart cities, towns and villages throughout the country, with Aleppo, the largest city in Syria, receiving an incredible amount of devastation. Last week, Amnesty International released a video showcasing stunning before and after satellite images of Aleppo’s destruction as a result of the Assad regime’s administering of repeated ballistic missile strikes. Rebel groups have tried to capture the city from Assad but so far have met only bloody defeat. Says an Amnesty representative, “The images are a snapshot of a population under brutal siege.” Directly below is a gallery of the destruction in neighborhoods Tariq al-Bab and Ard al-Hamra, as well as an overview of the damage inflicted in Aleppo beginning in November 2012, along with a video.

FOX News, Driving Force In Climate Change Denial

FOX News Climate Change

The Article: Fox News found to be a major driving force behind global warming denial by Dana Nuccitelli in The Guardian.

The Text: A new study published in the journal Public Understanding of Science (PDF available here) surveyed a nationally representative sample of over 1,000 Americans in 2008 and 2011 about their media consumption and beliefs about climate change.

The results suggest that conservative media consumption (specifically Fox News and Rush Limbaugh) decreases viewer trust in scientists, which in turn decreases belief that global warming is happening. In contrast, consumption of non-conservative media (specifically ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, NPR, The New York Times, and The Washington Post) increases consumer trust in scientists, and in turn belief that global warming is happening.

The study also examined previous research on this issue and concluded that the conservative media creates distrust in scientists through five main methods:
