So if you haven’t watched AMC’s Mad Men yet, you are missing out on great television. Basically the show is about ad men that get drunk and sexually harass women, it’s great fun. The staff of Double X, aka Slate for Women, decided to drink like the Mad Men and see how that worked. The results were video-taped and are pretty great.

Republican Plan Is To Die, But Quicker This Time

Alan Grayson unveiled the Republican plan on Tuesday as: “1. Don’t get sick. 2. If you do get sick… 3. Die quickly”. After being condemned by the Republicans, he issue his ‘apology’ on Wednesday:

“Last night, I gave a speech and I’m not going to recount everything I said but after that speech, several Republicans asked me to apologize. I would like to apologize.

I would like to apologize and here’s why. According to this study, health insurance and mortality in adults which was published two weeks, 44,000 Americans die every year because they have no health insurance. 44,789 Americans die every year according to the Harvard study and you can see it by going to our website at

That is 10 times more than the number of Americans who have died in Iraq and who died in 9/11. But that was just once. This is every single year. That’s right. Every single year.”

Phoenix is a French alternative rock band started during their childhood by Thomas Mars, Deck D’Arcy, Christian Mazzalai and Laurent Brancowitz in the suburb of Versailles. They sound sort of like a grown up MGMT, but they haven’t caught on as much. So you should probably get into them before douchebags that wear backwards hats and drink jagerbombs get into them. Then when the wrong people start liking them, you can claim previous ownership while distancing yourself from the trifling masses.

The best video for them isn’t even by them — it’s a fan video mashup mixing Lisztomania (from the Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix album) with clips from famous 80′s movies:

Look: historically, I’m not a morning person. And to top it off, I was grimacing through some lower back pain that flowered over the weekend. So when you noticed me (white guy, brown hair, blue/white striped shirt, earphones, red book) and I noticed you (white girl, brown hair, nosering, headphones, blue book) for however brief a moment this morning, it was bolstering and made me forget the knife in my back. Haven’t noticed you before, but if there’s a next time, maybe I can slap myself out of the morning slumber and say hey. No promises, though.
