On the eve of the FIFA World Cup, ESPN released 33 murals — 32 for each nation in the World Cup and 1 for all nations. The murals were done by South African artists in the style of 80’s Ghanaian movie posters. These murals will appear in publications and on subway platforms and billboards in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and elsewhere from now through mid-July. See each nations mural below:

These are all pretty awesome, though the Australian one is a little creepy.

Most of the factor for the World Champion 2010 are saying Spain will win the title. But usually it isn’t the big favourite that will win the tournament, so I think Brasil will make the race.

I wish there were artworks of this year’s Women’s World Cup Soccer. For instance:

USA-Charlie’s Angels featuring Abby Wambach, Hope Solo, and Heather Mitts. perhaps alongside Landon Donovan from the men’s team as Charlie himself! LOL Or, Abby Wambach as Annie Oakley.

France-The Three Lady Musketeers featuring Sonia Bompastor, Corine Franco, and Camille Abily or Elodie Thomis as Joan of Arc on horseback!

    Japan-Samurai warrior girls.

Germany-Birgit Prinz or Lira Bairamaj riding a black eagle with a soccer ball.

    Sweden-Viking girls.

Brazil-Marta looking similar to that Cristiano Ronaldo mural.

    Mexico-Aztec goddesses.

    Canada-Girls on a maple leaf.

    ….And the list goes on.
