Complete List of News Corp Online Properties to Block Picture

Over the past couple of weeks, damning evidence has emerged that News Corp assets perpetrated severe privacy violations where, among other things, News Corp employees hacked into private phones. Included among those targeted are the British royal family, a missing, later murdered, girl, the British Prime Minister and even victims of 9/11 and their family.

In outrage, boycotts of News Corporation have been gaining steam, and in light of this, the idea of starting a list of all known News Corp online properties, including ones even partially owned, seemed useful.

Included are all the local FOX and myNetworkTV affiliates that are actually owned by News Corp. Although one might choose to boycott all local Fox and mNTV affiliates, they’re not actually owned by News Corp, making its impact minimal. Note that hulu.com (a joint venture—a third is owned by News Corp) is included. There are a few others that News Corp also has a minority share in, too.

How to make use of the list depends on one’s browser and OS, of course, but here are Chrome and Firefox extensions to block specified sites. Alternatively a host file may be used to similar effect.
This list covers almost all major (and many minor) online properties, but any additions to the list would be greatly appreciated:

Why The House Won’t Investigate The News Corp Hacking Scandal

Six Ways to Tell If the Online College Course You’re Taking is Legit

Fox News During The Civil Rights Movement
  • Colin DeVries

Dislike. That’s my company! I work with good journalists. We don’t hack into cellphones. Only those lousy Brits do. News of the World and the Sun are not alone. Ethics and British journalism do not mix. I’m OK with boycotting all UK newspapers, but boycotting all of News Corp. is senseless. News of the World was only part of the problem there (though News Corp. does also own the Sun and Times). Look at the Mirror, Mail, Telegraph, Guardian, etc. They all bribe and partake in nefarious investigative practices.

    • Conor Price

Well actually the Telegraph and the Guardian (who exposed this whole thing in the first place) have some integrity, mainly because they are broadsheets and therefore do not pander to the lowest common denominator. Rupert Murdoch is endangering democratic process in the U.K through News Corp bribing the police and intimidating politicians (including the former Prime Minister Gordon Brown). It appears he may finally be brought to justice here in the U.K or at the very least have his power curtailed, I hope the same will happen in the U.S.A where he has no less malign influence.
