I wanted to clarify some of my points from a previous post on Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and the torture scandal.
My main problem with the discussion about the possible CIA consultation of Nancy Pelosi is a consultation on torture techniques does not implicate her. Spending the first six years of Bush’s presidency being a mere shill for hardline AIPAC policies while clapping like a nervous Politburo member for the worst of Bush’s war crimes does implicate her. A meeting does not define her record, rather, her record is defined by refusing to mount serious opposition to Bush’s absolutely devastating economic and foreign policy.
As such, she is as guilty as Bush or any member of his administration in aiding and abetting torture and war crimes. Nancy Pelosi should step down for being an inept and ineffectual leader who acted as a silent partner to the worst excesses of the Bush administration, not for a one hour briefing from the CIA.
