Boners and Bigots (A New Fox News Collaboration)

Salon has an article today about how impotence may be related to… girls being slutty? Apparently some beefcakes had boner problems, and this translated into an article about loose as a goose caboose being the culprit. As members of the Yuppie Death March, post-college graduates should actively seek out to relive their glory days of binge drinking and awkward sexual encounters (bravo, manwhores & sluts). Also, check out my less-than-sensical response.

Slate asks an even more question: are you racist because you hate rap? And the answer is yes, if the PC police have their way. They and the liberal media are primarily out to get you. So lock your children in basement with an iPod and a bible, because otherwise they may become intelligent human beings. And that is NOT what America is all about.

In the sidenote of the day, the New Yorker has a piece on how Nigerians can scam seemingly rich-turned-retarded Americans out of their money. Woops!

News That Blew

Salon is having an excellent day on two fronts: first it explores Al-Sadr’s ability to gain popularity and power in Iraq by being strong militarily, but more importantly, providing basic services/goods such as food to entire populations. Secondly, Salon has a feature on Colbert’s performance at the Press Corp examining it for what it is: a biting piece on the inaction and inabilities of the journalistic community. The name sums it all up (if you like shortcuts), “Cowardly and clueless, the U.S. media abandoned its post as Bush led the country into a disastrous war. A look inside one of the great journalistic collapses of our time.”

In the world of foreign relations, apart from today’s letter from the President of Iran to President Bush, Coming Anarchy has an excellent piece on the growing bond between Germany and the US, specifically over diplomacy with Iran. The most interesting portion deals with an interview Mr. Bush gave to a German newspaper about the differences caused by the Iraqi War:

Bild: Do the Americans have the feeling that they were abandoned by the Germans in the war against Saddam Hussein?

Bush: I’ve slowly realized that part of the nature of the German people is that they detest war. The Germans just don’t like war, regardless of where they stand on the political spectrum. And I can understand that. There’s a generation of people whose lives were destroyed by it.

The Washington Post has an article on the friendship of famed economist John Kenneth-Galbraith and historian Arthur M. Schlesinger. The best line comes first: “There was a time — it’s been decades now — when politicians or pundits would call people “liberal intellectuals” and not mean it as an insult.” In the spirit of Galbraith, the WP also has an article about Mr. Bush’s inability to deal with Social Security, entitled “An Irresponsible President”.

And in my funny but not really so funny news of the day, President Bush nominated an ex-Air Force general who looks like an albino bowling ball with eyes to be the head of the CIA. Conspiracy theories can be thrown out, because intelligence evidence can now be DIRECTLY edited by someone with vested interest in the Military-Industrial complex! Yayyyyyyy!

News to Turn Horses Into Glue (it’s true)

And I ran! Iran my nuclear testing straight into the heart of the Zionist pig! Well, in preemptive response to American action against it’s nuclear program, Iran has threatened to attack Israel. And for those of you short on your Middle East history, Israel has had no problem of attacking perceived threats in the past.

In seriously sad news, John Kenneth Galbraith died this week. Galbraith was one of the most progressive American economists, frequently critiquing the American system of capitalism and no fan of the militarization of the government. Some favorite quotes: “The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.” and “If you feed enough oats to the horse, some will pass through to feed the sparrows.” – in relation to trickle-down economics. Though much has not been said, Salon has a wonderful appreciation on the man.

Oh, and more on the Colbert speech at the Press Corps Dinner. Check out Think Progresses report on Fox News covering the speech (quick insider glance: THEY DIDN’T LIKE IT!). What intrigues me is the speech really didn’t attack Bush, he was what I would term collateral damage. Yes, Colbert was mocking his intelligence and his policies. But he was really attacking the journalists at the event for allowing Bush basically to have his way in Washington. In short, Colbert, like many of us, was disgusted by the lack of journalism that has allowed the Republican controlled government to go unchecked. And if you think the MEDIA has some profound liberal bias, I suggest you check this Media Matters article on the press coverage of the Iraqi war, including the famous ‘Mission Accomplished’ incident.

That’s the end of my disgust for today. For a little humor, check out Apple’s new ad campaign.

Truncated Todays

And what’s wrong with attacking Iran? This was the problem with the end of WW2 in the first place — no more colonialism AND we completely demilitarized the Japs & Krauts. And who would be more certain to succesfully carry out militarism in these days then a FULLY LOADED ENVOY of Germans & Japs (well, else than us, but we’re busy!). NOTE: This IS sarcasm.

The top 10 conservative idiots (WARNING, not as funny as title suggests).

Blue & Blewed Up

Probably one of the better websites I’ve seen in a long time: Rachel Papo: serial no. 3817131. At age 18, all Israelis (including females), unless Arab or Pacifists, are required to join the military for one year of service. So she undertook this project with pretty interesting results (my favorite is the semi-intoxicated girl with a machine gun).

Other great news from your GOVERNMENT OF SENSABILITY. If you are a college student applying for federal loans, you will be denied if you have ANY drug related convictions. Even misdeamanor possessions. The United states of never letting you live down your past mistakes.

Ever wondered what the most corrupt countries are? Here are your answers. One of the cofounders of Green Peace Roger Waters supports coexistence in Israel and moved a concert in Tel Aviv to a smaller Arab & Israeli town. Blogs can do anything, like turn a big red paper clip into a house. Or at least free rent for a month.

Have a nice Doomsday!
