Where art thou, young progressive bloggers?

Arlen over at the Daily Background poses an interesting question in the lack of ‘progressive’ young bloggers. My comment is as follows:

I don’t think there is an absence of young progressive bloggers, but I think there is probably an absence of young bloggers who specifically concentrate on politics.

I think this is why I have issues on being linked to by progressive blogs is because PBH doesn’t entirely focus on politics (though those are the majority of the articles). Also, there is probably a gap between senses of humor and views on what progressive politics is for young people. I think this is especially apparent with respects to the Democrats: I see the Democrats as equally culpable for the current situation in Iraq as the Republicans. Frankly, I think very little of the Democratic party, but I know other progressives who are keen to work within them.

I also feel a disconnect with a lot of the popular liberal blogs. A part from Crooks and Liars, AmericaBlog, and a few others, the predominant liberal blogs (ie Huffington Post, Daily Kos, etc.) as blogs for the over 35 crowd and Limousine Liberalism. How many writers for Kos or Huffington are younger than 40?

Also worth checking out is an article on Pandagon describing a recent NYTimes article on mother-daughter relationships and the prescribed normative by the writer of the article. The post itself, written by Amanda, is worth digesting, the comments though… not so much. There seems to be a strong level of cognitive dissonance among the readers from feminist sociology to their own personal lives.

It’s Friday and I Love Blogs

Over at Publius Pundit, they ask the question Is TV Political Analysis Biased? After a lengthy introduction on how the Sunday morning news options are controlled by Democratic operatives, you get to select whether the left or the right control THE MEDIA with the poll results being pretty obvious. Personally, I’m kind of peeved Jew Zionist Zombies Propagandists weren’t included in the choices, but that’s what you get from a ‘biased’ website.

Over at C&L, they have a video created by Blue Gal and a few others deriding how terrible Glenn Beck is. Trust me, I know, but it’s worth reiterating: Glenn Beck is an ignorant asshole.

If only Chevron had some kind of internal policy committee, as part of the company’s board of directors, with a knowledgeable expert responsible for looking out for these kinds of problems. Oh wait, it did — and it was led by Condoleezza Rice.

Sad Statz and PBH’s New Internet Celebrity

TinyRevolution says it best:

Here’s Mark Twain:

Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it.

And here’s George Orwell:

Whether the British ruling class are wicked or merely stupid is one of the most difficult questions of our time.

Some stats that should make you throw up in your mouth: 41 percent of Americans think Saddam was directly involved in September 11th, 71 percent Think Global Warming Has Nothing to do With Man’s Actions, and 56% of Atheists Believe Christianity is Just as Dangerous to America as Islam (gee, I wonder why). Likewise, 45 percent of Germans consider America more dangerous than Iran. Imagine that.

Blog Bound Up

Ut oh, someone’s cracked the class code! In case you were blind to the segregated world around you, it’s finally been analyzed: Facebook is for white suburban kids and MySpace is for dirty brown urban youths. I wonder if we can parade them through the streets like in Iran?

In more good news, Elizabeth Edwards said (in public!) ‘I’m completely comfortable with gay marriage’ along with the best comment on the situation on Pandagon:

On MSNBC.com, the headline read “Elizabeth Edwards strays on gay marriage,” as if she were cheating on her husband by having a different opinion. Or as if she were a dog.

Keep Reaching For The Golden Ring America

Four years of hot XXX American Occupation, and those damn brown people still can’t get it right! Oh jeez louise:

Iraq has emerged as the world’s second most unstable country, behind Sudan, more than four years after President George W. Bush ordered the U.S. invasion to topple Saddam Hussein, according to a survey released on Monday.

The 2007 Failed States Index, produced by Foreign Policy magazine and the Fund for Peace, said Iraq suffered a third straight year of deterioration in 2006 with diminished results across a range of social, economic, political and military indicators. Iraq ranked fourth last year.

As eloquently stated by Amanda at Pandagon:

As of today, we’ve spent $436,458,000,000 on this adventure war, and still Bush failed to make Iraq the #1 most fucked-up country on the planet.

Keeping up with my community services of all things feminist and Pandagon related (since we inherently hate females due to our hilarious blog logo), and to do some poetic reiterating, you’re stretching when you say:

Translation: We can accept advertising of sexual devices if they are advertised as benefiting men. But if they insinuate something as crazy as the concept that men should respect women’s bodies, health, and choices, then they’re way out of line.

Call me crazy, but I’m pretty sure men and women both benefit from use of contraceptives.

In the international blogosphere, CA has a post with commercial from different countries on military recruitment. The Russian one forgot to mention the wonders of officer-inflicted hazing. Publius has a post on if Russia Supplying Attack Aircraft to Syria, ThreatsWatch on the Net-Centric Operations of Terrorist Groups, and read his take on 54 Million Dollar Pants Lawsuit which has taken on the uncomfortable element of race and Korean/Black relations.
