Yes.  If you want to date a christian, you can cut to the chase and look at your right hand.

  3. Uncle B says:

So very sad, but so true. The “American Dream” McMansions, SUV’s, high meat diets, high energy consumption, all, destined to change, even as the oil runs out, gets scarce, prices itself out of American reach on world markets, The American dream persists. Sadly, China is only country acutely aware of energy problems, only country fighting to resolve them, only country with Thorium fueled, plutonium free, benign waste product, high efficiency nuclear reactors on the drawing boards, electric bullet train networks, ready to daisy chain across Eurasian continent. Meanwhile American infrastructure suffers, Once prosperous cities die, like Detroit City, once a cultural center, now Third World, comparable to Johannesburg S.A.
Pray now, for change in America, not revival, but true change that will bring vitality back to her people.

    • China uses coal so much that the air over there is uninhabitable. People are walking around with masks. They HAVE to do something RIGHT AWAY about their pollution. Only thing is , air doesn’t know boundaries , so we are all getting it.

  4. Ethan Moore says:

Well because Iceland and the other northern Euro countries are on top of this list I know where I am moving.

  5. ryan says:

Based on this information I would go ahead and say Iceland is number one, having scored top 3 in 5 categories.

  6. Anonymous says:

Many of those were only cities, not countries. Many are socialistic countries too. Which is just a mask for failure.

    • Schulze says:

There are only two city-states on the list, Hong Kong and San Marino. Such, you are wrong.
And none of the countries define themselves as socialist. Such, your statement is false again.

Now, you may say the scandinavic countries are socialist, but per definitionem, they are neither Soviet Russia nor the Utopia of Equality.

you forgot about the only one that matters, military power. which we are number one in. the next 15 countries on the list added together equals are military capability and expenditure.

    • ReaLity says:

Expenditure doesn’t mean performance remember.  Not to say USA isn’t strong, but a lot of rich pigs feed off of the money that we “spend for military”.

  24. Thos Weatherby says:

Keep in mind that things like infant survival rate can be skewed. In Japan if a child born dies in the first 30 days, it’s not counted. This isn’t a level playing field when it comes to rating countries. More people come from France for medical to the US than Americans going to France.

  26. Common Sense says:

Before we all get panicked about this, note that there are no definitions of these terms in the chart (although I assume the source links provide at least partial definitions).  Take Democracy, for example.  The U.S. is not a Democracy, it is a Republic (If we can keep it…) The Founding Fathers deliberately limited the unfettered will of the people by imposing a constitution which limited the powers of the government, and in particular the legislature.  They did so because they greatly feared factionalism and mob rule, and it has served us well (at least until we decided to ignore it.)  Having said that, someone who believes in pure democracy would rate us low on that scale because of these limitations.

Similarly, if you believe that society (however defined) should pay for health care (and you’re willing to gloss over the inevitable rationing by waiting that accompanies that type of health care), you would rate the U.S. low on health care.  If you compare the U.S. to countries where lawyers cannot become obscenely rich by exploiting every mistake that a doctor makes, the U. S. will not look as good, as we practice a lot of defensive medicine.

But ask yourself this.  If we are so poor at health care, why do world leaders and the wealthy tend to come to the U.S. when they need medical care?  When was the last time you heard about a non-Norwegian tycoon traveling to Norway for a procedure?

    • HarloweThrombey says:

“world leaders and the wealthy”. Precisely. What about the 99% of the rest of us?

      • Joe says:

That’s not accurate, then. You’re image is more concerned with the availability than with the quality. America has the highest quality medical professionals in the world. Also, the cell phone per capita information is skewed. Unless every German has 2-3 phones, a Gulf country would definitely win. Shoot, maybe even Lebanon would do better than most of those on the list.

    • Tulipa says:

Because there’s always some chance to sue in the U.S.? No, seriously, what I haven’t heard of yet is Norway’s healthcare advertising, so I can’t tell anything about it. Perhaps one should travel to Norway to know whether its healthcare definitely worth a visit. Could be Norway’s authorities think that advertising might crowd their facilities, to the detriment of the care provided. 😀
