Everything Wrong With The American Justice System

Everything Wrong With The American Justice System Picture

The story of Paul R. Allen:

The CEO of what had been one of the nation’s largest private mortgage lenders has been sentenced to more than three years in prison for his role in a $3 billion fraud scheme.

The 40-month sentence for 55-year old Paul R. Allen of Oakton, Va., on Tuesday is slightly less than the six-year term sought by federal prosecutors.

Allen was CEO at Florida-based Taylor Bean and Whitaker, whose executives pulled off one of the largest frauds in U.S. history. Among other schemes, the company double- and triple-sold mortgages to other investors, including Alabama-based Colonial Bank.

The story of Roy Brown:

Roy Brown, 54, is a homeless man who said that he was hungry and needed a place to live when he walked the Capitol One bank in Shreveport, Louisiana in December 2007 and stole a single $100 bill. The next day, he turned himself into police, apologized, and said that he was not raised to do such things. After he pleaded guilty, the Shreveport judge then sentenced him to 15 years in prison.

15 years for stealing a 100$ bill from a bank?
    Ridiculous.
Well, on the bright side, he’ll have a place to stay now.
Downside, i hear prison food sucks, along with some of the inmates.
    Figuratively, and literally speaking.

  5. Anonymous says:

Are you kidding? He got jail time for armed robbery, not for “stealing $100.” I guarantee that Mr. Allen didn’t have to convince anyone that he was going to shoot them if they didn’t comply with his demands.

    @anyone degrading america
every country has its problems. your country has its own problems. so suck it, because we don’t want any foul smelling, ignorant, borderline retarded foreigners moving here anyways.

I am not saying that this is right by any means, but maybe the judge was doing this guy a favor. In doing that, this guy is off the street with a free place to stay and free food for the next 15 years. Wouldn’t be my first choice for a solution, but this guy obviously has no place else to go. What would you do?

  14. Brock says:

well if you think about it Roy Brown was a homeless man and had nothing to eat or a place to stay, the judge gave him a place to stay and eat, sure the sentencing was wrong but in some odd way it probably helped him out.

sentence totally ridiculous; america country where everything is possible – greatest things as well as stupidest. the usa are a very young country but everyone who denies that the us have problems that are bigger and often way easier to solve than most other countries’ problems is a reason and proof for all the shitty things that go on in this country. the usa today and the usa back when they were founded are so far apart and many us citizens are to blended, stupid, arrogant or ignorant to accept that.
