knowledge is knowing the tomato to be a fruit

wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad

knowledge is knowing what prop 6 is

wisdom is knowing prop 6 is a piece of discriminatory garbage that doesn’t belong in ANY U.S. state constitution

        good day sir.

Obviously you do not know how to read. It said tomatos are fruit, but you do not put tomatos in fruit salad. As in salad that is made up of only fruit. Maybe you did not eat stupid but I say you might be just a little dumb.

          • Gmatt says:

            You sir….are an idiot

  2. Good content and excellent delivery.

The fact that governments determine who “is married” – who can take part in a contract between parties that is called a “marriage” and given the government-defined privileges that it bestows on those “married” – shows that humans in most locations are in essence the property of the State.

All that would take place in a self-ordered society (no rulers) when 2 (or even more) individuals decided they wanted to have a domestic relationship, commonly referred to as “marriage”, delineated by contract (with an escape clause as all contracts must have to be valid) would be to register that contract with a registering company for all to know. Nothing more is truly needed in such a society. However the existing society (worldwide) is one of rulers and enforcers for the benefit of those rulers and their friends.

    • ninjaman says:

I don’t agree with you there. What you have just described is either a dreamworld or total chaos. Civilization as we know it will collapse if people were able to decide for themselves what was right for them. Each person cannot be their own judge and jury or else I could find that justice for a cheating wife or husband could be murder and who can tell me no really? Stealing oculd be made legal, rape can be justified and the list goes on. We are flawed creatures in essence and tend to act in total self consumption unless there is an arbiter between us and our desires. Whether that arbiter be laws or religion. We need laws as people in order to keep our emotions from dictating our actions/ inactions.

      • thebludoc says:

are you really equating gay marriage to stealing?

        have you no decency sir?

you realize dixiecrats in the south said nearly the exact same thing in opposition to emancipation? that blacks couldn’t be trusted to make their own decisions?

YOU tell US how gay marriage will lead to chaos?

YOU tell US how we can even call marriage sacred, when this country invented the prenuptial, and has a divorce rate of 50% because many our heterosexual men and women have a tenancy to marry for convenience and money.

YOU tell US how you can justify equating gay marriage to stealing and rape.

I WANT CERTIFIABLE FACTS: Not half baked here-say on what might be, I can play that game too: illegality measures aimed towards gay marriage could totally cause chaos in the streets, and rape!

SERIOUSLY: Certifiable facts. This is not IRAN you bastard, we are better than this.

Um he was referring to the post above which basically supported Anarchy. He was not equating gay marrage to chaos just stating that chaos is not a valid form of government.

      • thnkr917 says:

How about instead of instituting Gay marriage, we do away with any government licensing of any kind of marriage and let it be a purely personal institution. The tax break that married couples get could be parlayed into a bigger tax break for dependents and the government could take one step back from being in everyone’s business. The government is and has been way too into the business of citizens for many years.
As for the guy advocating the government needing to control our flawless selves, I am perfectly capable of knowing what is right and wrong without some decrepit old dishonest government official micro managing my life.

Why should it be required to view for anyone opposed? That makes no sense! This is still America where people have a right to choose. This great nation, the Republic that it is goes by majority rule. Let the people make its choice and that is it. As long as the process continues in this manner, it will work itself out even if it works for you or not at the moment.

People have the right to choose? I do not believe gay Americans have the choice to get married. Why don’t you let me chose to marry whom I wish and also let me chose to tell the majority of Americans to fuck off. I give you permission to marry whomever you choose to. I don’t want the undereducated, misinformed, ignorant, narrow-minded “majority” choosing my life.

    • Anonymous says:

That’s not the only problem with the govement they say they are with us but they are not

    • ninjaman says:

So you can sum up from one speech that this guy is a quality person with quality parents? Some of the best con artists are the best speakers on earth. Come off it please.

It is a scientifically proven fact that children who grow up with both male and female parents present in the home grown up to be more balanced and mentally healthy individuals than ones who don’t (this includes gay couples and single parent homes).

Also there was a study been published by one Walter Schumm. Here is an excerpt:

“Furthermore, when the study restricted the results so that they included only children in their 20s — presumably after they’d been able to work out any adolescent confusion or experimentation — 58 percent of the children of lesbians called themselves gay, and 33 percent of the children of gay men called themselves gay. (About 5 to 10 percent of the children of straight parents call themselves gay, Schumm says.)”.

This flies in the face of homosexuality being purely genetic and an “I-was-born-this-way-so-accept-me” issue. Also, not that this is an emaple, but would some children not defend their parents and lie for them even if they were no good? Yes they would so lets stop making assumptions about the character of the young man. He presented his perspective well ….. full stop and the end.

      • faboofour says:

I’ve neither the time nor the inclination to argue with a bigot, but it should be pointed out that no intelligent student of psychological disciplines would ever use the phrase “scientifically proven fact’. As well, it shouldn’t need to be said that a single uncorroborated study proves nothing.

What is clear is that the above response is the work of someone ignorant of science and, therefore, without merit.

        • ninjaman says:

And you are entitled to your “opinion” as well faboofour. Interesting that you use labels like bigot becasue I do not support gay marriage. Goes to show how objective your contribution is my friend. A single study is still more than most people who are commenting here have done. Have you done any study on the matter yourself or are you just a proponent of gay marriage as the issue under discussion falls in your proverbial garden of desire? Please share.

          • toast says:

The fact remains that this is a complex issue that, as of now, is unclear. It cannot be sufficiently argued that a same-sex family would influence a child to non-heteronormativity…it may even be the case that there is some influence. And if there is…so what? Inherent in your argument is the concept that a non-hetero life is worse than a hetero life. That may not seem like bigotry to you, but a knee-jerk disparagement of a lifestyle about which you personally know very little–be it spoken or simply assumed–seems a lot like bigotry to me.

          • just a guy says:

“ninjaman”, who cares if the kids of gays want to be gay? Who cares if anyone’s gay? How does it affect you or anyone else? Are you afraid some guy is going to hit on you? Your study didn’t say anything about the offspring being disturbed or wrong in the head, just…gay. So basically I’m assuming you find the act of being gay inherently wrong, which is what I would certainly refer to as being a “bigot”. That’s pretty much the definition.

The whole idea of banning marriage is sad, but I’m curious what negative impact you actually thing a gay relationship has on society, straight individuals, or even the gays themselves.

Lastly, you’ve made it clear that you believe this kid is likely a conman, due to his charm and charisma. All he did was make some good points – it’s the content that people here are responding to. I’m sure he’s had problems, just like anybody, but what exactly are you suggesting he’s hiding? Do you think he and his lesbian mothers have some deep dark secret that you’re exposing? I just don’t get what your point is in trying to negate the effect of a powerful, well-stated, and heart-felt speech about an important political topic. What would you prefer, something more dry and clinical? I think that kind of defeats the purpose of speaking on behalf of your own family.

            • Harry R. says:

In agreement with Ninjaman. The young man presented an eloquent argument for gay marriage – kudos to him, but he could be the biggest con man on this side of the earth or maybe he is an aspiring politician. Anyway, whether you are for or against gay marriage, this is still America a Republic nation. Where if you vote, you have a right to speak your mind, not bend people to your will (although that happens). Let the people speak and vote and then whether you agree or not with the vote, work sensibly to have your ideas heard.

      • Anonymous 2 says:

        ninjaman,

Here’s an excerpt for you to read:
“Who is Walter Schumm? He was one of two “expert” witnesses paid by the state of Florida to defend its ban on GLBT adoptions. (The other was George “whatever lifts your luggage” Rekers). Schumm came off badly in doing so, and was cornered into admitting that:”Gay parents can be good foster parents,” and “The decision to permit homosexuals to adopt is best made by the judiciary on a case by case basis.”

Unlike you, ninjaman, I provided 3 links that I and other people can go read that helped form my opinion. These links can also help people research further on their own. Please stop saying things like “It is a scientifically proven fact…” this show that you don’t have an real background in science to be throwing around such a statement.

The issue of nature vs. nurture is still a hot debate in terms of GLBT influences, if any. And unless you are gay and/or struggling with any kind of GLBT issues yourself, it is a gross lapse in logic to jump to conclusion such as “but would some children not defend their parents and lie for them even if they were no good? Yes they would so lets stop making assumptions about the character of the young man”. Either you were arguing against gay civil liberties or you were trying to prevent people from doing what you just did: making unsupported assumptions without any evidence. You were right that we can’t know the actual character of this young man from one 3 minute speech. But the line I previously quoted jumps from such an obvious anti-gay standpoint supported by what can best be described as pseudo scientific study to trying to round out your reply with the initial, valid point of your first sentence. Please
read the last link as to how to form a coherent argument before you reply again.

        Nice try, noob.

(About 5 to 10 percent of the children of straight parents call themselves gay, Schumm says.)”.

This does not prove that gay parents breed gay children, but rather that gay parents create an environment where a child may grow up believing that being gay is normal or acceptable, while children with straight parents may be brought up being told that being gay is wrong and so feel much less comfortable with being open with their preferred sexual orientation. You could argue that gay parents result in more sexually liberal children and straight parents result in more closet case gays because there is pressure on their kids to be straight or risk bringing shame to his or her family. I think the real issue here is whether it is better if a person can accept his or her sexual orientation and not be judged for it by society or if a person keeps silent about his or her true sexual orientation so that s/he is not judged by society.

Humans are naturally bisexual, let us not overlook this issue.

      • Anonymous says:

So are you also arguing that people who are single should not be allowed to have or keep their children, too?

Also, people who smoke cigarettes can be said to have children who will grow up to be less healthy as a result of being exposed to cigarette smoke and people who smoke are still allowed to have and keep their children.

If you’re going to make such general arguments you should be willing to defend and approve of every other argument that you may be making.

      • Anonymous says:

This is a clear-cut case of picking and choosing which information you choose to emphasize to prove a “point”. There have also been studies to prove that homosexuals and straight people have different brain structures.
        http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1815538,00.html
        Are brain structures not genetic?

Your study also fails to outline if one of the parents was their child’s biological parent, which yes, would also be evidence of homosexuality being something genetic.

First year psychology textbooks also outline that you are more likely to be gay if there is a history of homosexuality on your mother’s side, and each male that your mother produces has a 1% higher chance of being homosexual.

If being gay is a product of your environment, why do straight parents produce gay children?

Do homosexuals CHOOSE to be persecuted by others for their sexual orientation? Do homosexuals CHOOSE to be disowned by their parents for who they fall in love with? The answer is an astounding NO.

Being gay is not a choice, nor is it a defect. You did not choose to be sexually attracted to the opposite sex, and in no way did your parents influence you in who you found attractive.

        • PRD says:

“Are brain structures not genetic?” Actually, not entirely. The brain can be affected by different chemicals, social factors, sexual experiences as we develop. The article in Time only cites one study; unfortunately, there have been a number of conflicting studies done on this topic and causation itself is difficult to establish. “So, the question will always be whether homosexual practice changes the brain or whether the brain results in homosexual practice.” http://www.godandscience.org/evolution/genetics_of_homosexuality.html

      • Even if a study concluded that the children of Gay or Lesbian parents are more likely to label themselves as Gay or Lesbian, all that shows is that the Gay or lesbian parents had failed to instil in their children any fear of, or hatred towards homosexuality, and perhaps that you see their gayness as inherently wrong and there is absolutely no evidence to support that hypothesis. Homosexuality is rampant in the animal world. Why should humans be different?

Most people arguing against homosexuality do so from a religious perspective or were indoctrinated into this perspective by religious parents and/or education. If being gay was something “god” was against why did he make so many creatures that way? It appears to me that to be anti-gay, one must be uneducated or religiously indoctrinated and gullible as there has yet to be, and it is very unlikely there ever will be, any rational reason to discriminate against homosexuals. Most anti-gay protesters don’t even have the courage to state their homophobia, they instead hide behind moronic platitudes like “traditional marriage” and it is true, most gay marriages are rather non-traditional. Spousal abuse rates are almost non-existent compared with “traditional marriage”, and like atheist marriages. divorce/separation rates are much lower. Children of gay couples commit suicide at less than half the rate of the children of “traditional marriages”

Just as rational people today are horrified by how white Christian America once treated Blacks your grandchildren will find it hard to believe how backward your generation was towards anyone considered different.

If you are going to fight something it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have some knowledge of what you are talking about, but as usual the loudest are the least informed.

    • Cletus James says:

Good point. Are you american by the way? Where are you from?

      • thnkr917 says:

I guess it would be hard for some Americans to believe someone could have that viewpoint and still be American. Are you from a Southern state, Cletus? 🙂

  9. Haysoos says:

The united states government, on any level, has no right to determine who can enter into a marraige with who. The only body that can have a say is the religious body being asked to bless the union. If a church doesn’t want to do it based on its beliefs, you can’t fault them, that is their right because it is a religious ceremony based on established conditions. However, if find a church and minister/priest/shaman/(whatever fits your religion), then I think there is nothing wrong with it.

The state has to right to dictate sexual orientation or who we choose to spend our lives with as being right or wrong. By making gay marraige illegal, it is the state essentially ruling that you do not have the right to be gay, or to express your love for who you love. Honestly, if this isn’t covered by the free speech, then an amendment should be made to secure our freedom to love whom we please.

I am a heterosexual man in a loving marraige, and I dont see it being right to deny a gay couple the same benefits I recieve based solely on religious ground (would we have this debate if the bible didn’t say it was “wrong?”, since we have freedom of religion. If your religion allows you to marry the same sex, and your religious institution supports your “gay marraige”, then the government denying your marraige rights is the government denying your right to freedom of religion. I don’t see how it could be viewed any other way.

    • daniel meyers says:

My biggest issue with this topic: If you scream and cry equality, then by gods grace you shall get it. But to then celebrate your different is very wrong. I am all for any type of marriage that makes a living human being happy, but then to prance around and act like your different is not right!!!
~ It then stems out to, well I have green eyes, should I go prancing around in a huge parade?

      • Anonymous says:

Yeah, maybe if everyone with green eyes was discriminated against just for having them

        • ninjaman says:

Having green eyes is not an occular abnormality but homosexuality is. Sexual deviance / aberation is not just beastiality and pedophilia etc, but it defines the homosexual lifestyle as well. Remember anatomically speaking the penis is designed for the vagina and vice versa. I wonder if that explains why heterosexuals have a longer life expectancy than homosexuals? Like smoking the human body is not built for it and so problems are bound to happen I guess.

          • Anonymous says:

Sexual deviance is an ocular abnormality?! Thanks for clearing that up ninjaman. Your ninja stealth needs a little fine tuning.

          • Damn! I just wasted my time responding to one of your previous posts. If I’d waited until after I had read this post I would have realised you are an idiot, I just hope you don’t pass your hatred onto the next generation.

Homosexuality is rampant in the animal world. Look it up. Surely there must be some modern method of easily researching something before talking about it so one doesn’t appear to be an uneducated fool.

Deviant: A person or thing that deviates or departs markedly from the accepted norm.
Aberrant: Deviating from the ordinary, usual, or normal type; exceptional; abnormal. These are the dictionary definitions. The most sexually deviant people you are ever likely to meet are celibate priests. Not because of all the pederasty going on but because they actually chose celibacy. I can’t imagine there is a way to be more different from the accepted norm than choosing not to have sex.

      • Me says:

Lol, what are you talking about?! How can you be so narrow-mindind!? How does someone having a parade affect you? You know why they are having them? Because people like you force them to repress who they are by limiting their freedoms like by denying them to marry the person they love.

What if (hypothetically) America was a gay nation; where only gays were allowed to be married and the church believed that anyone who was heterosexual should not allowed to be married. What would you do? You would do just what the gays are doing now. You would create parades and rally against the injustices of the country for not allowing you to marry, solely because of how you were born and your sexual orientation.

Some people are gay, i’m not, but GET OVER IT!

      • Ben says:

Have you ever been oppressed for having green eyes? Been made to feel worthless, terrible, even inhuman? Gay Pride parades are nothing more than a chance for homosexual human beings to be free from oppression and persecution that is common in everyday life. It is a chance to be around people who understand them, who identify them, and are sharing the same struggle. Should we ban Irish people from flying Irish flags in America? Or Japanese people from flying Japanese flags? Or Germans, Koreans, Chinese, French, Britain, or any other nationality? No. Because people have a right to celebrate what makes them “them”, as long as they’re not stepping on other peoples’ toes. So I guess the real issue is…why do you care if they have a parade?

      • David says:

Daniel Meyers you would best serve everyone else if you were not to comment and keep your mindless twaddle to yourself. It is a bit absurd you decide to single out gays for having parades when Puerto Rican’s have parades, the Irish have a parade and an all day drinking affair, Christians have Christmas parades. ect. ect. Your bias blinds you.

      • Anonymous says:

and women shouldn’t wear skirts, heels, makeup in the workplace if they want to be treated as equals to men. and different ethnic groups shouldn’t embrace and celebrate their cultures if they want to be treated equal to white people in america.

do you even listen to yourself? completely ridiculous.

      • So, in essence, you’re against parades, then? Puerto Ricans have parades for being “different”, that is to say, Puerto Rican. As do the Irish (St. Patrick’s Day), African Americans (Martin Luther King), people of Italian descent (Columbus Day) and various sporting teams (Rosebowl, etc.). You don’t have to be a fan of any of those people/events to participate, but an understanding of what the event is about certainly helps. If you’ve ever attended a Pride event (with an open mind, not “disgusted” because there were scantily dress men around), you’d find it’s a very inclusive event with a party atmosphere that you don’t have to be gay to enjoy!

But really, you’ve cooked up some sort of weird false analogy anyway. The two are not connected. Even if they were, I’m sure if you polled the gay community and said, hey, we’ll give you gay marriage, but we want you to cancel the parade this year, they’d be all for it.

    • dj hater says:

For some reason, these issues that “dont matter” and have no bearing on anyone except gay couples is the most argued topic in the christian faith. Even if christians believe that being gay is a sin, thats fine. You know why? Because we live in a society where you can have your own views without being discriminated. These freedoms are trying to be taken away from individuals solely based on their sexual orientation. In a country where church and state are separate, the church sure does a lot to force others into their viewpoints. How can we be considered a free nation when we actively try to take away freedoms from american citizens?

      • ninjaman says:

“These freedoms are trying to be taken away from individuals solely based on their sexual orientation”

Nonsense dude. Homosexuals can’t have taken away from them what they never had in the first place. Homosexuality up until the last century was clasified as a mental disorder and so it is in a sense. The brain wants what the body was not wired for in essence. That’s like saying that society discriminates against people who live on the street and take a dump on it as well in plain sight. It is seem as abhorrent due to it’s nature or anti-nature in the case of homosexuality becasue it goes against natural law we don’t even have to get into religion here to see that.

But with a worldview shaped by those making you believe that you are a “freethinker” for thinking JUST LIKE THEM, it is not surprising that you will disagree with this. Homosexuality today is more about mockery of natural law than about justice.

        • smp says:

“Homosexuals can’t have taken away from them what they never had in the first place.”

That is one of the stupidest arguments on this entire page, and, there are A LOT of them. So, bravo ninjaman, your stupidity made top 5 amongst the stupid comments on this page.

Why so oh so stupid? Allow me to demonstrate:

          Idiot.

I notice the venom that some of you have but I will not stoop to your level of name calling. Are you saying sir smp that there is something unnatural about being a woman, black or an interacial couple? I think women, “blacks” as you call them and interracial couples should be deeply offended that you would compare their struggles for equality to that of the gay community. It’s interesting how people like yourself tend to apply conditional ethics whenever it suites you. Being black, woman etc is not a lifestyle choice but being gay IS whether or not it is led by an uncontrollable desire to have intercourse with someone of the opposite sex.

Don’t get it twisted, gay people have the same rights as heterosexuals. Neither group has an easy time being married to someone of the same sex so where is the equality you speak of? Why not do away with male only and femal only toilets while we are at it? Why should men not be allowed to use female toilets just as women do? Anyone can see how ridiculous this argument is when put in perspective. Gays are allowed civil unions but they want it to be “called” marriage as well. For what? If you think that what you are doing is perfectly acceptable then why the need to prove to yourself that you are normal anyway by being allowed to use terms created for heterosexual unions?

Your problem is that you see it as unnatural.

If you deny people rights based on how “natural” they are, you would deny rights to a majority. Many people have had genetic therapy. What about those who have been saved where they would have died? Everyone who was resuscitated after “natural” death would be considered “unnatural.”

Homosexuality is *NOT* a lifestyle choice. Ask someone who you know that is gay, ask them if they would have chosen it, and the overwhelming majority will say that they would not have. And even if it is, who gives a damn? Smoking is a lifestyle choice. Religion is a lifestyle choice. But the government wouldn’t DARE restrict anything regarding that.

And what’s the difference in the term for you? Why is “marriage” so bad but “civil union” is acceptable. And oh please, the term may have been created for heterosexual unions, but that’s because the time that it was created in was so backwards and restrictive that nothing else existed. And I would like you to look into the development of language, because then, you’ll see that a word can be changed. What does “cool” mean? What does “web” mean? The only difference is that it must be accepted and changed legally, which is certainly much more simple than changing the minds of the masses.

Also, you’re floundering. You’ve lost. Give it up, and it’s obvious.

This one is really a stooge, isn’t he?

“Homosexuality up until the last century was clasified as a mental disorder.”

Hey, bigot! The concept of “mental disorder” wasn’t a “classification” until Freud’s work in the late 19th century. Therefore, homosexualty was ONLY a “mental disorder” for at most, a hundred years (an infintesimal period of time, eon-wise). And it is, and has been, only a taboo in small isolated social structures.

Either shut up and educate yourself about the actual planet you live on, or be labeled as an ignorant bigot. Your choice.

          • Rosie O'Donnel says:

Infinitesimal?? You guys nee to stop using scientific terms that you don’t know the meaning of. 100 years is not infinitesimalby any means eon or not. Do your research folks. Homosexuality was taboo to most people. The small groups of nobility in various societies were the ones who practiced it mainly (see Greece – eryos etc) it was always taboo by most of society in just about every other cizilized country.

            • “most people” Really? So you’ve studied the thousands of tribes in Micronesia and New Guinea where homosexuality was as common as heterosexuality then.
Who gave you the right to choose what is classified as “civilised” ? Civilised people owned, beat and raped slaves. I can’t think of anything less civilised than forcing opinions that have no basis in fact on others who are doing neither you or society any harm. Sounds a lot more like a dictatorship than civilisation.

        • Okay you must be trolling. You are certainly ignorant of “natural law”. Human rights apply to ALL humans.

    • David says:

The issues that really matter will continued to be dominated by the landed elite while the majority of voters, keep in mind that is less than 50% of the country, will continue to be won over by the rhetoric and the lies disseminated through cable television news. So why don’t you go and stand before your legislative body (he is not in court for being raised by gay parents is not a crime) and talk about what you think actually matters, DJ. Otherwise continue to sit in your arm chair and criticize people for standing up for what they believe in.

      • Rosie O'Donnel says:

The “landed elite” as you call them are actually the ones promoting homosexuality in the media…hello they own it. There is hardly an accepted voice that does not support homosexuality in the mass media. This is not because everyone is OK with it. Heck less than 10% of the polulation is gay so gays are a minority. What we see is the white collar guys getting married to media friendly wifes and raising a couple kids in the public eye to be “accepted” by the majority “who are hetero”. But they are iving two lives and have regular homosexual encounters outside of their marital relationship.

Gay marriage “rights” is a non-issue as compared to the myriad of other problems with the ecomony, poverty, ethnic and religious persecution, genocide and mass rape, euthanasia, organised crime and drug ttrafficking going on in the developed and developing world.

        • No one promotes homosexuality. They promote acceptance and tolerance of homosexuality. There is a bloody big difference. As long as you’re foolish enough to confuse the two you You can be Gay, straight, lesbian, Bisexual or even transgendered. None are wrong people just are what they are.

I wish people would stop using this misnomer to describe everyone who disagrees with the morality of the homosexual lifestyle. Accusing someone of homophobia is like accusing someone of onionophobia because they don’t like onions in their food. It is utterly ridiculous. Homosexuals need to start being honest about the roots and reasons for their deviant sexual appetites and I’m sure they would start the process of healing all the faster. Cheers.

      • Kit says:

Are you seriously comparing disliking a human being to disliking onions? It’s a personal choice not to eat onions. Let other people make their own damn personal choices.

      • “I wish people would stop using this misnomer” that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice and that it is all about the sex. Any person can have sex with a person of the same gender and it be only sex. To be gay or lesbian, (for most, not all) is to only be capable of falling in love with someone of the same gender.

Yes, Homophobia is almost always the wrong word but when intelligent/educated/rational people see the fanatical hatred of the members of the anti-gay movement it looks exactly like fear. Fear that someone might somehow know you once thought about it and are hiding that by protesting just a little too loudly.

and as for the “deviant sexual appetites” Would you like to guess who uses the most porn, the most extreme porn? That’s right, straights. And who do you think would be the biggest users of porn. Mormons! Utah is officially the state with the highest rate per-capita of internet porn subscribers. So please don’t pretend any group is any more moral than another.
A gay man in a flouro G-string (thong) at the Sydney Mardi-Gras is likely more moral than the Christian with the hidden porn stash. He’s also less likely to be molesting his children or beating his spouse.

A good message. Though his delivery was shaky and full of distracting ‘filler’ words and gestures (“You know” , “You know”)

It’s important to recognize that individual cases do not define entire case studies. The harsh reality of the ignorance of human thought is that the way we see the world or the way we interact with the world is not the case for anyone else. His example is definitely a fantastic example of the potential in a person. He never claims, however, that his accomplishments were allowed because his parents were same-sex, just like he never claims that his life was negatively affected by their same-sex relationship.

His message was ambiguous and mostly boastful of his own personal accomplishment directed at gathering sympathy.

    • Dan says:

Wow. His speech was shaky eh, with filler words?

I suppose I shouldn’t be shocked that someone would try to downplay how well done his speech really was. I would like to see you write and read a speech even one tenth as well as he did, in front of a large room of powerful people.

Also this statement “He never claims, however, that his accomplishments were allowed because his parents were same-sex, just like he never claims that his life was negatively affected by their same-sex relationship. ” What is your fucking point? Because all you just did with this statement is repeat exactly the point he was trying to make, that his parents’ sexual orientation had no bearing on how he turned out, and should be irrelevant in the eyes of the law.

He may have played the sympathy card a bit, but his boasting was necessary to show that at least in one case, a same-sex couple churned out a pretty successful guy.

Do you always try to tear people down?

      • Rosie O'Donnel says:

Hey calm down man. Is the guy your cousin or something jeez? Why the need to use expletives. Everyone has their own opinion so get a grip please.

Just goes to show, can’t please everyone. Some on here are claiming that the young man was a fake, a professional speaker hired to read a pre-written speech. Others think he is for real, but rehearsed it too much. Now you come along and complain about his delivery being “shaky and full of distracting ‘filler’ words and gestures” – which if anything demonstrates he is not a professional speaker, and most likely wrote the speech himself.

  21. Nik New Zealand says:

What an amazing young man. As a New Zealander I am very proud of the fact that ‘Civil Unions’ were recognised and deemed lawful according to the The Civil Union Act 2004. No governing body has the right to dictate who any person chooses to spend the rest of their life with. Along with the rest of the ‘Westernised Nations’, NZ has a high divorce rate. In saying this, I believe that anybody who enters into a committed relationship (marriage or otherwise) is entitled to the same rights as the rest of us. Heterosexual or Homosexual orientation should be a side issue. The law should have no bearing on your sexual orientation. Because a family is built on the love, trials and tribulations that all us undergo in our lives.

    • Kit says:

I was a Boy Scout and knew a fair number of gay Eagle Scouts. While it’s sad and terrible that the national organization has been taken over by religious conservatives, the core values of Boy Scouting are really just about becoming good citizens and experiencing the outdoors. The policy of discrimination basically killed my troop, which was pretty liberal and one of the oldest in the country. So anyways, there can be scouts who love scouting but dislike the religious and sexual discrimination practiced policies.

      • Harry R. says:

Kit, that is not true. The BSA when created was founded on religious principles. The part about becoming a good citizen and experiencing the outdoors is the tool so the young boy can learn what the foundation is about. It was never taken over by religious conservatives because it was begun BY religious conservatives. I am not nor was I ever a boy scout and I know that your statement is seriously flawed.

        • Kit says:

When I was a scout, you could get a religious badge, but there were badges for hundreds of religions, including U. U. So perhaps it was founded by religious people, but it was pretty open as to what religion.

I am not opposed to your daughter moving in with Tina. Great! But, I should not have to have the homosexual agenda rammed down my throat (no pun intended). Just as it was said earlier, there are way more important things that should be on the forefront of the legislative floor (employment, economy, etc) than the homosexual agenda taking up court time and legislative time that takes away from other important things.

Revelation 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. (Who are (thee) in this verse?) Is it you?

I intend this to shock some of you to wake you up because you have been deceived by the Devil who the Bible says is the god of this world.

    2 Corinthians 4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

When a person gets saved, they do so by believing and receiving the word of God. They become a member or a part of the body of Christ. This is brought about by the word of God.
James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
The word of God to this generation is the King James Bible, preserved without error, contradiction, or mistake and is inspired by God. Withstanding the test of time for 400 years.

When this Bible was first brought forth in 1611, God used his word to bring about the salvation of many souls and for the next two centuries the greatest revivals swept the world and more men got saved and started living righteously than any other time in history. A man’s word was his bond because it was based on God’s word the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

When Satan, the god of this world, who said in Isaiah 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. He has counterfeited every thing God has done right down to God’s church and God’s word. (He is the author of confusion I Cor. 14:33)

The Philadelphia church period was from 1600 to 1900. This is the only one of the seven churches in Revelation chapters two and three, which covers the two thousand year history of the church, that he had nothing bad or negative to say about, because they kept his word. Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Luke 11:28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. This church period and the word that they kept was the King James Bible and came with it were the greatest blessings that made this nation the greatest nation on earth. Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Most of the great songs in the hymnbooks came from this church period. Compare them with the fruit of the rock music the Laodicean church is putting out today.

When the devil realized God was using and honoring that book he started counterfeiting it.
When the new corrupt bibles came forth like the 1881 English Revised Version, the 1901 ASV, the 1948 RSV, the Living Bible, etc, and 233 more versions that came from corrupt manuscripts, this brought forth the Laodiceans church period from 1900 to the present. How can you revise something that’s perfect when the God that gave it said not to and as soon as you do you break his commandments in doing it. He didn’t tell you to revise it he told you to believe it. 1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

(The Bible is not hard to understand; for it is written in six grade English. It is hard to believe, like Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. KJV.

These new bibles didn’t believe what he said about the Philadelphian church that kept his word and received his blessings, they changed it and this rebellion and corruption brought about the Laodiceans church period from 1900 until the present. They took God out of everything he was in and replaced him with these new age bibles, new age rock music, new age worship with a new age spirit, a new age gospel and a new age Jesus and he was taken out of peoples lives all together because of this hypocrisy, corruption, and confusion who God is not the author of. I Cor. 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. It’s another gospel and another Jesus and another spirit that is under the curse of God see Gal. 1:8-9 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
In Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. He, (the Word), is standing outside the door of this Laodiceans church knocking to get in if anyone will receive him, he is the Word. This church doesn’t have him or his word, the King James Bible, and even though the Devil is like the most High Isa.14: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High his converts, the Lord, will spue them out of his mouth.

A saved person, saved by the word of God, meaning the Christ of the King James Bible, becomes part of the body of Christ. His spirit, which is the breath of life, is joined with the Holy Spirit that seals and saves their soul. Without this Holy Spirit you cannot understand the King James Bible and that’s why you want to change.

If you can receive and believe and understand these new bibles, which are doctrines of devils, they do not make you part of the body of Christ, he says he will spue you out of his mouth. You are so close to becoming a Christian but you are the tares among the wheat.
After reading this, I would ask you to go back and reread the parables in Matt. Chapter 13. They will make a lot more sense. Now reread Matt. 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

I mentioned the King James Bible is inspired by God and underlined, by God to stress the point that the devil, being like the most High, is the one or author that is inspiring all this confusion in these other so called bibles. Now let us conclude this as shortly as we can.

Psalms 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. If the people and the churches of this nation, including the schools, starting with the homes, don’t get back to the word of God, need I say it again? The King James Bible, the word of God Ps. 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. Then we or I guess I should say you are doomed, because I can say with the apostle Paul 2 Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

(Education without the right salvation and the right Christ is damnation.)
1 Corinthians 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

If you are a pastor of a church and you are not teaching this information to your congregation and getting your self back to it, regardless of what the school you went to taught you, the Bible classifies you in Matthew 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. Your souls are just as important as your congregations why don’t you repent before you perish and get your church back to the truth of God? Why serve a looser like the devil when you can be a winner with the Lord?

Romans 15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Romans 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. 1 John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (f-e-w) follow every word Pro 30:5-6 Mt. 4:4.

Being like the most High is not being the most High, and being like the King James Bible is not the King James Bible. Change the words and you change the thoughts and the one who’s thinking. Selah. God said in Phil 4:…8 think on these things. You are either thinking thoughts of the world or the word. (The King James Bible the wisdom from above.)
James 3:13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

    • Black widow87 says:

So your lovely list of quotes and blurbs makes what point? Do you believe that all gay people are going to hell, or that people are free to be as happy as you are believing what makes them happy?

    • Jim Norcal says:

For your comment to have any relevance at all one has to be religious. For the many of us that aren’t, your comment makes no sense whatsoever.

Instead of quoting scripture let’s just look at the scientific facts and pose the question “does a gay couple raising a child have the effect of making said child believe that being gay is the right thing to do rather than being what nature intended?”. That is my only real fear of gays bringing up children. It could cause them to become gay themselves when they really aren’t gay since to be hetro could, in their mind, upset their ‘parents’ just as a child becoming gay would typically upset their normal, natural hetro parents. I think that’s a relevant opinion, don’t you?

      • ninjaman says:

One study was done by a guy called Walter Schumm revealed that in the sample set he examined of people raise by gays parents:

“Furthermore, when the study restricted the results so that they included only children in their 20s — presumably after they’d been able to work out any adolescent confusion or experimentation — 58 percent of the children of lesbians called themselves gay, and 33 percent of the children of gay men called themselves gay. (About 5 to 10 percent of the children of straight parents call themselves gay, Schumm says.)”.

So maybe yes being raised by gay parents can shape a child’s sexual identity. Not all people are born gay I don’t think. My opinion is that most of them aren’t.

    • The word you’re looking for, Henry, is TRACT. Not track, such as on which a train would travel. Considering how little thought you’ve put into your use of vocabulary and/or spelling, I don’t think I’ll trust the “evidence” you’ve presented…

Check yourself into a Psychiatric hospital you have become a RELIGIOUS FREAK and are in need of psychiatric help before you totally go off the deep end!!?

      • Teal says:

I think people who would think that it is ok to have sex with members of their own sex need psychiatric also. Alot of men who are gay seem to me to 1) want to identify with masculinity becasue they don’t feel masculine enough or 2) were abused sexually as young men or children and they are acting out what was done to them.

Gays need love not judgement and hatred people. We all have our own issues and baggage that we carry around so why not lets help each other not judge each other.

        • Anonymous says:

Key words: “seem to”. You don’t know. You don’t know what it is to be gay, you don’t know how many gay PEOPLE (yes women can be gay too, not just men, my love) were sexually abused or were not. You say that they reach out for masculinity? So then why the fuck would a man want to be with a man if he was trying to look masculine, which is a subjective viewpoint anyways, as society has it’s views on what is “masculine”. Your argument is deeply flawed.

        • Schulze says:

What, and trying to be masculine or not being masculine is a crime now? Are you fucking insane?

    • Anonymous says:

      tl;dr.

    • Anonymous says:

Henry, don’t you realize that much of what you’re quoting was heavily edited or changed by a church/state (no separation back then) obsessed with power and control, and that the main reason they were against things like homosexuality, birth control, etc. was because they wanted people to have more children that would grow up to become servants of the church/state? And don’t you realize that the god of the old testament may have been a being with access to advanced technology (Could be alien, interdimensional being, traveler from our future, or who knows what) but in any case, he was a being that thought nothing of killing off huge numbers of people, even including his own “chosen people” when they displeased him.

So the question is, why would you even listen to such a being? Do you love him? Who could love a mass murderer? Do you fear him? If so, it’s because you’ve been conditioned to do so by years of church teachings, many of which are based on mistranslations and/or perverted readings of the original texts. The point is that for whatever reason, this being left our planet and no longer interacts with us, at least not in any visible manner and certainly not in the “show-off” manner described in the old testament.

Then there’s the whole issue of why the church teaches Paul more than Jesus. I do not doubt that Paul may have had a spiritual experience (perhaps something akin to a Near Death Experience) but that doesn’t make him a universal authority on morality. He was never declared an apostle by Jesus, and although the church would have you believe he was a “reformed” Pharisee, you have to ask yourself, in what way was he “reformed?” He may not have been actively killing Christians but his views were still pretty legalistic. And yet the New Testament we have today, and many of today’s churches, give more emphasis to the teachings of Paul than the teachings of Jesus. And on many things, Paul’s approach and Jesus’ teachings are at opposites. It’s no wonder a church obsessed with control and power would emphasize Paul and de-emphasize Jesus.

Jesus never personally said one word against gay people, nor against any of the others that the churchgoers seem to hate. Henry, I’ll bet you you tell me which groups you hate, but would have a hard time identifying many people you truly love unconditionally. It doesn’t really count if you’d cease loving them the minute they changed their beliefs, or challenged you on what you believe. That’s not true love – at best it’s conditional love, at worst it’s using false love as a control mechanism. Just something to consider.

      • ninjaman says:

“Jesus never personally said one word against gay people”

He did speak against people engaging in homosexual activity. He did not have to be specific as gay activity and the gay lifestyle fall under the category or fornication (sex outside of marriage). And how does the said scripture define marriage “between a man and a woman” – the way it was always intended to be. Church goers who hate anyone whether gay or murderer etc are not living up to the expectations of Jesus. We are supposed to hate the sin NOT the sinner. We are also mandated to correct each other when we stumble into sin, not force but offer advice and correction. So Christians should not hate gays and gays should not hate Christians for doing their jobs when they do it correctly.

        • Victor Garcia. says:

The gay lifestyle wouldn’t fall under fornication if they’d just LEGALIZE GAY MARRIAGE.

      You bible thumping fool.

Did you meet the man who actually wrote the bible?

      No…and oh wait! NOBODY has!

Can you seriously and honestly say that NONE of what was written in the actual bible was changed or altered in any way…. since it was written so OH SO LOOOOONG AGO???

      No…and oh wait! NOBODY can!

Oh and here’s one more… Can you seriously and honestly say that the INTERPRETATIONS can really be read in only one way?

      Again… no!

I seriously don’t understand how someone can argue with such conviction based on the bible. Its almost funny to me.

But yet, too sad that people can be this idiotic to be funny.sigh

      • Teal says:

One man did not write the bible. The bible is a collection of books written by many men who were inspired so to do. Initially alot of it was not written but passed on orally as most jewish people in the early days could not read or write but they had excellent photographic memories to compensate. When scribes began writing the scriptures down they could cross reference what they were writing with what other scholars and dictates were saying and had written before so the accuracy was maintained by concensus. Becasue the books weere so widely revered their translation was always a highly scrutinized and elaborate process that took many years. That effort has never been put into the translation of any other manuscript or publication as has been put into the Holy Bible. THis is why it is still to this day the greatest and most polular literary work of all time. Even non-christians and atheists regularly refer to quotations therein when writing or speaking.

As for interpretations, the authority to interpret scripture was handed down when the scriptures were fullfilled by Jesus Christ himself to His Church which still stands today.

      • Harry R. says:

        hold on a minute.

The Dead Sea Scrolls were found in the early part of the 20th century. It was determined after many years of scientific study that it was in fact the book of Isaiah found in the Holy Bible and that the translation used in the King James Bible was true to the Dead Sea Scrolls. So, we do have proof that it was not altered. Isaiah is one of the most prophetic books concerning Jesus. No need to get angry or call people names, just be open minded to a loving God that wants the very best for you.

        • Victor Garcia. says:

Have you been open minded to the idea that your “God” doesn’t exist? I think not.

    • faboofour says:

Perhaps it would help you to remember that, given the number of human beings who have lived on this planet since we’ve been sentient enough to understand concepts like “religion” and “God”, when you quote bible scripture, you’re referencing a belief that a truly an infintesimal number of people have ever believed. Judiasm was practiced by only by a very small number of people in a minutely small geographic area for only a very recent period time. It shouldn’t suprise you that as people have communicated with others over a distance farther than, say, a few hundred miles, we’ve come to learn how ignorant and insular Christian dogma is.

Unless you’re one of those utter ignorants who still believe, despite centuries of gathering facts that contradicts it, that the earth is only 6000 years old and that man was “created” in a “Garden of Eden” which was somewhere in the Middle East. In that case, nothing I could will ever disuade you from your ignorance.

      • Teal says:

“a belief that a truly an infintesimal number of people have ever believed”

I just googled infinitesimal and i think you using it out of context but i digres. Christianity is the larget religious movement in the world. It has been for some time and alot of people believed this contrary to your post. So many did in fact that even the way time has been recorded as BC before Christ and AD Anno Domini referece the Chritian Jesus directly. This has been accepted by the world as a standard as has many other things because of the impact that Jesus Christ as a true living hisotrical figure had on the world. The scriptures merely confirm what men and women who were seeking the truth have experienced since time began.

“despite centuries of gathering facts that contradicts it, ”

Firstly not all Christian believe that the earth is 6000 years old. And most believe that the earth was created in 7 periods of time (not necessarily days) – this is not to say that the omnipotent Creator of it all could not do it in 7 days.

Secondly there is not one “fact” that contradicts scripture unless people want to twist these “facts” to do so. I challenge you to name one “fact” that contradicts scripture.

Thirdly no fact can contradict scripture because scripture does not claim to be a science book but the Truth revealed to men by God. These men were not from our time and did not know about fossils and classifications of animals and how the physical world works on a microscopic level. If God had revealed all these to them then they would have been thouroughly confused as their minds would not have been ready for it. Don’t you think so? Therefore the truth in the bible is unquestionably maintained. The science however has to do with the interpretations of the inspired men of what God revealed to them in the physical world so that their peers at that time and those who have understanding and love the truth would understand what He was trying to reveal.

  34. Jim Norcal says:

As I mentioned elsewhere here, I think one thing we need to consider is the potential damage of sexual identity that could occur to a child being raised by a gay couple. I would have liked it if the chairman asked the kid what his sexual orientation was. I’m very curious to know myself. I believe it’s possible that a kid being raised by a gay couple may turn out to believe that being gay is the right and possibly only way to be. Also, they could believe and feel that to not be gay could upset their parents just as, in most cases, hetro parents are not overly enthusiastic to find out their kid has turned out gay and is why many kids stay in the closet for fear of what their parents would think of them. So wouldn’t the same be true in the reverse sense and therefore potentially cause the kid to be gay or at least act that way which, in itself, could be very damaging to a kids psyche.

    • Sam says:

I’m gay and the horrible damage that my straight parents did to me as a child and growing up may or may not be the cause of it.

He’s trying to say that gay parents raising a child can be compared to pedophile parents raising a child. I think he is suggesting both are cases of sexual deviance and can negatively impact a child’s growth. I think alot of people would agree with that. I find also that people sympathetic to gay marriage on this forum to be highly strung and overly aggresive and venomous to those who don’t hold their views on the matter. If this is the face of gay amerrica then why would anyone want to OK kids being raised in that type of unhealthy environment?

        • toast says:

I think the reason so many people who are commenting here in support or gay marriage seem so “venomous” is because they view the witholding of rights from fellow human beings as barbaric, cruel, and unnecessary. They, for some odd reason, seem to think that homosexual partners should be afforded the same legal guarantees as heterosexual partners. Did I say odd reason? I’m sorry…I meant to say STOP TRYING TO IMPOSE YOUR UNEDUCATED BELIEFS ON OTHERS.

By the way, I think your suggestion that this is the “face of gay amerrica” is extremely inaccurate, for most of those who have commented supporting gay marriage have noted that they are not homosexual themselves. So where you take issue with their venom, I take issue with your ability to read/think critically. Have a great day, and have fun judging and disliking a minority for no educated reason!

The church has been asleep for the past 50 or so years. that why we have allowed
this type of life style and abortion and taken the Bible out of schools.

    • smp says:

MY God is not a judgmental God.

MY God is not a vengeful God.

You think that He is because you see him in the image of your own self, your own hatred and judgments and bullshit.

      Sad, really.

      • Teal says:

God does judge. Scripture calls him the only Judge actually. He judges us for the good and bad that we have done. He is also vengeful so who is creating a god in his/her own image now? Scripture says “vengeance is mine says the Lord” He is both vengeful and merciful. He is merciful to the repentant and vengeful to the unrepentant. Plain and simple. The god who you claim is “MY God” is either a figment of your imagination or a fallen angel peddling lies to your desire to do your own thing and live by your own rules. We need to repent and turn away from sin and we will see true joy and happiness when not enslaved to our desires.

        • Victor Garcia. says:

Why is it that this person’s god is any less a god than yours? Because you don’t believe in that god? Well I don’t believe in yours. So therefore yours is a figment of your imagination, as I also don’t believe in any sort of divine angels. In the words of Stephen Roberts, “when you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.”

    • Kit says:

This is what they said when white and black people married. SLIPPERY SLOPE. The slope leads into your anus.

      • smp says:

Right on Kit, this is EXACTLY what people said about interracial marriage. ‘What next, a man is going to marry his dog?’ lol

The stupidity and closed-mindedness and lack of general empathy for fellow human beings makes me sad.

If you went out in public and announced ‘I don’t think a black person should marry a white person’ right NOW, you’d get dirty looks and things thrown at you.

All i’m looking forward to is the day that the same thing happens with gay marriage. Because it will, it’s called EVOLVING.

(Most) People have evolved passed the idiotic ‘a black person shouldn’t marry a white person’ idea. And if you’re someone who opposes gay marriage, you are definitely behind and your crappy and shallow way of thinking will get left behind too as people of better character evolve past you.

        • ninjaman says:

The close mindedness is on you because there is nothing abnormal about being black. Black and white people are both normal and of the same species and human race. A man and dog however are not. YOu see sexual deviation in ALL it’s forms is taboo including homosexuality. Some people want to justify it and use all sorts of loose arguments about black and women’s rights and freedom of choice and rights etc. Fact is that incest with immediate family members, sex with underaged children and beastiality are all wrapped up in the same dirty blanket as homosexuality. Alot of people publicly endorse the “rights” of homosexuals but quietly they do not agree and just pretend in order to be a part of the crowd to seem “progressive” and “evolved”. The same mantra that the (gay run) corporate media has convinced many people is as a result of their own free thinking, is actually what these media moguls believe and want people to believe.

  46. Free thinker says:

    God is not real, fools.

    • ninjaman says:

If you were truly a freethinker then you would not buy into that mantra espoused by so called “freethinkers”. Doesn’t that go contrary to the very term freethinker? Should you she the view of another “freethinker” or think for yourself? Having no proof of God’s non existence is not reason enough to say God is not real so you must not really be a freethinker in the true sense of the word.

      • A guy with a brain. says:

        You’re an idiot.

I’d say it’s a slightly greater leap of faith to believe in a talking snake, a guy living inside a whale, and a happy-go-lucky magician.

I’ve seen you describe homosexuality as “going against natural law” multiple times. I suppose a snake with the capacity for language isn’t breaking that “natural law” then?

On that note, homosexual behaviour has been observed in countless animal species, seems pretty “natural” to me, right?

I’m so glad I live in Britain, where rationality is now more widely accepted than religion.

      • Hrmm? You say:
“Having no proof of God’s non existence is not reason enough to say God is not real”
Having no evidence at all of God’s existence is reason enough to say God is imaginary.
        There you go.All fixed.

  47. Shakti Thapa says:

This is fake. I totally agree with Dan “2” who says: “He probably also practiced this scripted speech 100 times before giving it.” Speaker is looking down at the script again and again.

    • So you are stating that if you were to make an impassioned speech to a room full of politicians you would think it smart to just show up and wing it.

      Think, then post.

  48. smp says:

The fact that this guy has to stand up there and say the things he’s saying is just sad.

    IT SHOULD ALREADY BE KNOWN.

Damn people, it’s not like the 2 people who raised him have green skin and descended from an unknown planet. They are 2 human beings, just like me, just like YOU. Whether 2 people are gay, straight, or bi does not affect HOW THEY RAISE CHILDREN.

Just think about this: Look at all the fd up people in this world, all the serial killers and psychos and the people filling our prisons. Were they raised by gay couples? NOPE. They were all raised by ‘straight’ people, the ones who apparently ‘should’ raise children. The ones who ‘should’ raise children because of OUTRIGHT RETARDED excuses like ‘uh, the bible said’ or ‘its natural.’

    ugh.

    • ninjaman says:

“Whether 2 people are gay, straight, or bi does not affect HOW THEY RAISE CHILDREN. ”

And you would know this how exactly? If I child grows up in a brothel what do you think his concept of sex and love will be? So if a child grows up with gay parents what do you think his/her concept of sex and relationships will be based on? Sponge Bob???

“Just think about this: Look at all the fd up people in this world, all the serial killers and psychos and the people filling our prisons. Were they raised by gay couples? NOPE”

Actually most of the serial killers and psychos do not come from healthy nuclear families and family problems and irregularities were sited as some of the reasons for their present condition. Given the obvious IRREGULARITIES of a gay couple I would think that the children would be in more danger of becoming deviants themselves.

      • Kit says:

Actually there have been many studies on the effects of gay parents on their children’s lives, and children of gay parents tend to do better than the average person. Pro-tip: do research before sounding completely ignorant. I mean you could also keep talking out your ass if using facts to back up your argument is against your religion or whatever. Freedom of choice, etc.

    • Tradition: to do things as they were always done, without questioning why they are done that way and denouncing those who claim there may be a better way. Tradition means never having to think for yourself because all the thinking was done for you, years, decades or even centuries ago.

    That is all.

    • ninjaman says:

making remarks about my intelligence does nothing but cement everything I have posted because you cannot refute it. Is it because it is true maybe??

I have a life thank you given to me by both my male and female parents and raised to know that men and women are fundamentally different and that an father cannot substitute for a mother and vice versa. I child grows holistically with both present in his/her life.

Gay parents will only serve to confuse a child and yes I do believe that his sexual identity can be affected by having gay parents. What a child learns about sex and relationships in his/her formative stages of life shapes that childs concept of his/her own sexuality for life. Children’s minds are like sponges. If they see a hetero couple hugging they usually imitate it at some point. Liekwise if they see a gay couple behaving in this way it will inevitably shape how they perceive sex.

Lets get real and stop covering the truth over with crafty lies.

      • neithernayoryay says:

As a mother, I am interested in your statement of “children’s minds are like sponges”. That is very true. I come to wonder not in the sense of just children being raised by gay couples, but what about children who are raised by “nannies”, or daycares, or grandparents, or two aunts, as there are not as many families with heterosexual parents who play equal roles in their upbringing…..There are so many scenarios in which children are raised in society, that it is hard to label who will have stronger morals or who will deviate. I don’t wish to cause an argument, just offer a thought. Thank you

  57. back on topic..... says:

    Beautifully said, young man.

I think that most people miss the point —
that legalizing gay marriage is not about making “gay” moral or acceptable… it is simply saying that you are legally allowed to do so.

    and it should be legal.

The government is not moral or religious.
As a “free” country, we are allowed to sin in any way we choose,
as Zach said: its the “strength of our character”
that guides us to sin or not, according to our own moral code.
his point was that he turned out ok, and he has gay mothers. nothing more. Just to show that *perhaps* gay marriages will not hurt the kids any more than hetero marriages do.

all of you that share the view that it is morally wrong because the bible says so: you are legally allowed to share this view in America. Government says you have “free speech”.
I also have the right to thow in here a Hail Satan, if I so choose. (lookit that, I sinned, but I sinned legally to illustrate a point.)

Homosexuals cannot marry. It is not legal.
    Heterosexuals can. Its legal.
legally speaking, that is not equal.

    right, wrong, who cares.
sin, not a sin, who cares.
a psyche problem, normal brain, who cares

this is about legalization, not about making it “right”
    __________________________

eating cheeseburgers all the time may hurt your health, but legally you are allowed to do it.

Smoking can cause health problems to you and your children, but legally you are allowed to.

as the christians will say: you will answer for it to god….
but we should not have unequal legal acceptance in america. Gays right now have a barrier in front of them about marriage.
I think the kid is right – let em have marriage.

Let them pay for marriage licenses, big expensive party for their big day, honeymoons, divorces, ailmony, child care payments and all the other expenses that happens when you marry…. just like the heteros do.
    it may help the economy.

oh, and you are legally allowed to use the other gender’s toilets in public places…. you wont go to jail for it….. Its a courtesy thing that you dont.

where will kids get their values on sex? the same place they always do: TV, movies, friends… blame “16 and pregnant” and “Jersey shore” more than you do gays.

  59. Nathanie says:

Bring on the love, commitment and support among the heterosexual community, it is missing.

  60. Another Christian says:

“And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to Him, ‘Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath!’
But He said to them, ‘Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God and ate the showbread which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless? Yet I say to you that in this place there is One greater than the temple. But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.'”
    Matthew 12:2-8

As long as it’s not hurting anyone, why should it be illigal? If we get lost in accusing people of sinning, we might miss the fact that the people we accuse know more about love than we do.

You write them… then you rehearse them. Personally, I know that when I’ve rehearsed a speech, it sounds better because I’m not stuttering or throwing in “um” every few words. I’m not a “con man”, I’m just making a point.

My wife’s OBGYN and Nurse Practitioner were in a committed relationship and these women adopted a child (well, technically, only one could because they aren’t legally able to marry) who’s turned out really well. Why can’t they be married? No good reason. But the tide is turning and the Regressives are losing on yet another issue in which to divide this country.

I feel sad for all of the posters who seem to be so judgmental in their opposition to gay marriage. Hope that Gawd you worship won’t surprise you on your Judgment Day. Something about ‘judge not, least you be judged”.
