The Best Theories On Everything (Volume IV)

Best Theories Volume Four

The “Believing In Religion” Theory: I respect religion for inspiring men to overcome untold adversity by hitching themselves to a cause greater than themselves and trying to help others. I disrespect religion for inspiring men to subjugate women and minorities, wage crusades and unspeakable persecutions in the name of a cause greater than themselves.

I don’t believe in religion. I believe in the hopelessly pragmatic. I believe in whatever-gets-you-out-of-bed-in-the-morning-to-help-others.

I believe you don’t need an aged book to tell you to respect your neighbor. I believe in the Book of John Stuart Mill, “The only freedom which deserves the name is that of pursuing our own good, in our own way, so long as we do not attempt to deprive others of theirs, or impede their efforts to obtain it.”

Best Theories Religion

The “Church Is Wrong About Gays” Theory: Christianity rails against homosexuality as unnatural, against God’s plan, and seeks to “save” gays.

“You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. . . . If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death, their blood is upon them” –Leviticus. 18:22, 20:13

Scientists have pinpointed gay genes in humans as well as in animals.
