In order to shift focus away from mindless consumption, this New York City vending machine allows patrons to donate items and receive used ones for free. I wouldn’t like socks, though.

    I really like the idea though I’m not sure this actually works. I’m a big fan of bartering and I’ve been a member of barterquest.com for years now. I enjoy the variety of things on their website and I guess in this aspect the swap-o-matic couldn’t quite compete…
