“N”-Word Banned in NYC

It’s a sad day for many of us here at PBH as we learn that today, New York City, has banned the use of one of my and many of my associates favorite words: The “N”-word. I’ll spell it out in case you haven’t heard this particular euphemism: nigger. I’ll define from the urban dictionary below:

A word that everyone else is afraid to define except in utter seriousness, for fear of being branded a rascist[sic], in total ignorance of the colloquial usage of the word, its characterization in popular culture, and the populations of people it is used most by.

This ruling is actually quite interesting for two reasons..

  1. This is probably the first time in history that a WORD has been outlawed.
  2. There’s no actual penalty for using the word, thus, the rule is pointless. But I’m sure our astute readers already figured that out

Anyway, since the “N”-word has apparently been banned for casual conduct, We’ve got a great plan here. Since this was announced today, we’ll mark each and every March 1st as Nigger Day! Kool-Aid and Watermelon for all!!!

    Honestly i think this ban on the N word is utterly ridiculous. You ban the n word but not cracker, or anything other racial slurs….where does that make sense, or even faggot? Then the “black” people demand equality…how can you demand equality if you want certain laws passed and special preferences given to, just because you feel your at an injustice, what about every other minority out there?     I do believe that banning the word niggar is a pointless ruling due to the fact that it disregards the fact that we as Americans have freedom of speech. Being an African American myself and a soldier, who protects and fights for the right of free speech, believe that the word is derogatory and it should not be used lightly by anyone. Who can stop you though, no one, just as no one can say anything to the gentleman who wrote this article. Though I do not agree with him, he still has the right to write what he wants. Its all about feelings and unfortunately the black race has let this mere word get to them to the point that instead of being the bigger person and realizing that words are not a weapon unless u let them become one. We as a nation have a lot to learn and I fear that internal unrest between Americans of all cultures will be the demise of this great nation if it is not fixed.

    Well, I think the point of the article was to show why it’s stupid to get upset over a word: it’s a word. You can use it anyway you want in this country and that’s the way it should be. Not to say it’s not a demeaning or unnecessary word, but nonetheless, it’s still just a word. And outlawing a word is just plain stupid.

    I’m hesitant to enter this debate as it is difficult to discuss without generalizing about a group of people. However, the preface that racism exists on all sides should help matters. As whites are more frequently accused of racism, I do go a little on the defensive when this comment is made in a clearly racist manner. The recent comments by NBA coach Isaiah Thomas are an example of this.

    - In a videotaped deposition played for the jury at fired Knicks exec Anucha Browne Sanders’ sexual harassment trial, Thomas said he drew a distinction between whites and blacks when it came to the B-word. Asked if he was bothered by a black man calling a black female “bitch,” Thomas said: “Not as much. I’m sorry to say, I do make a distinction. A white male calling a black female a bitch is highly offensive,” Thomas said.

    Reverse racism.

    Plain and simple, bitch is not a racist word it doesn’t even technically refer to the human species. Respond if you like, but you cannot argue this point.

    You cannot get rid of a word. Only its power and meaning. If you ban a word or make it such a taboo to talk about it then your empowering the word. If you make it to where only one race can say it then it will be considered racist for anyone else to say it. The only way to make the word less hurtfull to black people is if it was ok to say it by everyone. Just run around all day saying it. Pretty soon the word will lose its power to hurt.     Regardless an opinion being dogmatic (I think that is to what you were referring) a valid point cannot be argued.

    Until the CONCEPT of nigger disappears, it’s actually dangerous to try to abolish the WORD. You’re giving it MORE power by trying to prohibit it. Besides, as a black man, I’d rather hear people who thought the word say the word, than have people saying “African American” and thinking “nigger.”

    And until slavery is no longer PRACTICED in the United States, there will be no reason to “get over” slavery.
    Talk to some women who are being trafficked across the border, or some Mexican migrant workers

    Look people the N word is not always bad, there are times when it is inappropriate and circumstances where it is acceptable. If you closet racists had any black friends they would educate you, as mine have, how to use the word, should you so choose. If you don’t have black friends, maybe I can help. Try using it in a manner that is uplifting.
    E.g. ‘Dat nigga got sooo much bread!’ and ‘Dis nigga is tooo funny!’ N.B. If it sounds unnatural or even ridiculous when you say it, you should probably just hang it up… it’s not for you.
    No word should be banned, rather used appropriately, and no website should be banned, especially for ‘lack of order.’ Who died and made you internet custodian?

    I, for one, love the word “nigger”. It’s one of my very favorite words. I use it all day long to refer to anything that irks me, not just niggers. For example, “I stubbed my toe on the niggering desk”, or “that test was a real nigger”. I call my friends (all of whom are white, of course) niggers. If I see some filthy mongrel dog in the street, I’ll say, “Look at that nigger!”. I’d like to thank all the niggers out there for behaving so badly that the word nigger has useful meaning, and has come to be used for all things that are disgusting, stinky, ugly, painful, inconvenient and just fucked up in general; like niggers!

    Here in Canada, we allow Blacks to achieve lower test scores in schools, and pass. We allow Blacks to enter the police force, the fire dept, and other public service jobs with lower expectations, test scores. We are forced to hire a certain number of minorities if our company has “X” amount of jobs.

    My mortgage broker was a black man. He was the stupidest ass I have ever met. I had no idea how someone as stupid could be in charge of lending hundreds of thousands of dollars. Until I realized, he beat out dozens of other people for the job. He beat out other but not because he was smarter. He beat out other but not because he had the highest test scores in post secondary schooling. No, he got the job because he is black. Way to go.

    So instead of allowing the majority of blacks to get exactly what they have earned, and to avoid the enevitable life of crime to be the default of their existance, we place them into jobs where they are completely incompitant. I have never seen a black person hustle, unless it is to run away from a crime they have just commited.

    Get with the program, or wit will be NIGGERS, regardless how much you are given without earning it.

    I agree that trying to get rid of the word is stupid. It has been around for hundreds of years and I don’t see it going anywhere soon. I live in Los Angeles but am originally from Arkansas. If anyone has a right to bitch about black-white racism, its the south. Everyone there is hated and hates. Yes I am discrediting blacks around America for having any right to be upset about the word based on the fact the majority don’t have strictly southern to slave roots. Arkansas had the first high school to allow blacks and the south is still removing their white-black fountains. I think this country should just promote togetherness a whole lot more than they do.
